Our current net rating is -10.7, per Statmuse, which (by that metric) makes this team the 15th worst squad in basketball history. Right now I'm seeing some fans in some online spaces losing hope, especially after we got Trae. All I'll say is this:

Just a couple years ago, the Pistons literally set the record for longest single season losing streak ever at 28 games. Fast forward to now, they're the #1 seed in the East by 5 games.

On December 2, 2021, the Thunder suffered the biggest loss in NBA history against Memphis, 152-79. Four years later they won the Finals.

Kevin Durant had one of the worst season long plus-minus scores in league history as a rookie in Seattle (don't look at who #1 is… or do I guess).

Things have to get worse before they get better… sometimes they have to get a lot worse first

  1. I love our core, management has made smart moves the last few years, and next year with a top pick and Trae back full-time I expect us to start getting rapidly better

Enjoy the remainder of the season folks, because I expect it’s the last time we’ll be able to watch the Wiz with no expectations and being happy when we lose games for a while!

  2. Keefe said it – they aren’t worried about outcomes, they’re focused on process. I have no problem with them losing games, I just want to see growth and improvement. There’s gonna be backsliding as well, we all have those moments where we think we’ve gotten better at something we struggle with, and realize we haven’t.

We know the young guys are doing their best, in the process we’re hopefully setting ourselves up to get a top 5 pick, so that we can hopefully compete in a real, meaningful way, by 2028-2029. Nearly everyone on here clamored for tanking and rebuilding. Ted listened, and got two of the best in the business at that, and here we are, at stage 2 of 4 in the method.

I like our young guys. Each is unique and the vibes are really positive and constructive.

  3. I know the nba doesn’t like tanking because it “makes fans check out” but this is the most interested I’ve been as a fan in probably 10 years.

When you as a league create classes of teams (tell me the nba would ever let the Lakers be irrelevant for as long as we have been and I’ll laugh in your dumbass face) *that’s* what makes fans check out.

The way we have been run in my entire life made it literally impossible for us to win a championship. This route probably won’t either, but it actually has a chance and I’d rather take that shot.

  4. All we have seen from this team year is flashes of the growth & development. We can see the potential. The Most impressive thing about this core is they aren’t down on themselves with the losses. They understand the Journey. Even without the top 8 pick that’s coming this team is posed to be a problem for the next few years. We have 3 young guys who can consistently go for 20 a night if they get the minutes (Sarr,Tre,Ky). We have a bunch of POA defenders in Bilal, Jamir, Ky, & JC.

Yesterday was the youngest lineup in NBA history. We played with only one center.

Next year is when we don’t just make the playoffs, it’s when we start dominating the EAST. Look at the Thunder, Detroit & Houston for examples of teams going from the basement to the penthouse in one year.

  5. Sometimes. And sometimes it stays terrible. Sometimes for a decade or more at a time. Time will tell.

  6. If you are having a rough time watching the rebuild, my advice is, watch a few young guys not the whole team.

Watch Sarrs transition from a young stawalrt role player to a sub All Star. Watch Tre build his own shot and be light years ahead of where Brad was his rookie year. Hope Bub can figure out the turnovers and become a future sixth man or playmaker (that’s a rough one, he might be a two frfr) Watch Keyshawn George come into his own as a toolbox wing with a killer J.

We all know Khris is a traffic cone on defense, there’s no primary playmaker until Trae heals up, and this team will lose and lose again and again. Focus on what matters rn, the losing is all part of it

  7. Who cares about the damn stats? They’re losing on purpose for the draft. They had the youngest starting lineup in NBA history yesterday and lost by 4. With seven players not suiting up.

  8. I don’t know how much longer I can tolerate the tank, at some point you have to get a return on investment and show some promise.

It seems they’ve been rebuilding since Beal left. And that was eons ago.
