  1. Trade Matt Shaw sounds like a bad idea. Cubs keep trading their talent to other teams and now farm system
is short handed on talent. Cubs need to find another way to rebuild farm system not by making another mistake
by giving up on Shaw. Cassie trade was a BIG mistake.

  2. Still have some hopes of Bateman being 4th outfielder in a year or 2. I know he gets no love.

If the Cubs trade Shall, then I know the Cubs are NOT very serious about doing more than a winning record.

Agree that Cubs plans are short sighted!!!

  3. The farm system is not great in part because they've been buying the last couple of years. That and the mid round draft placement. Even when they had those couple of losing seasons, they were not getting a top ten. Now almost all their top 30 are in double A or lower. Another thing to note is PCA and Shaw are now in the MLB, so part of it is that they developed young talent quickly. The obsession with Cassie is silly. I don't think he has any indication of doing anything but striking out 170 times while hitting 15-20 HRs, and batting .220.

  4. Com one now!!!! You have been saying that if they weren’t going to use them they needed to trade them to get pieces for the MLB Roster. Playoffs and championship are and always will be more important than unproven talent in the minors. Look at Matt Mervis he killed it in the minors and then he was shit when he came up. The Cubs finally made some moves and got out of their comfort zone to get some better players. At this years trade deadline they can try to restock the farm system. Some of the guys that have expiring contracts might be able to bring a few pieces back. You have to decide which one you want. Do you want one of the top 5 best farm systems in baseball or do you want a championship contending team on the field. You of anyone should know that.

  5. I can't believe even Mick can't figure out that they need a lefty DH and Ballesteros fits the bill perfectly. You don't need to worry about a position with Ballesteros. It would be nice if he could play a game or two at catcher, but it's not imperative. The kid can hit, and will be a big part of this team.
