I was thinking the same. Now McLean doesn't have to be the opening day starter and feel the need to fill that #1 starter role. He can also learn from Peralta as well.

They’re gonna be a nassssty 1-2 punch, which is all you can hope for in the playoffs. If our offense clicks, there’s no reason to believe we’re not contenders
What is probability that Mets will sign Peralta to extension?
Also, did AJ Ewing’s ascent make it easier for Mets to trade Jett? They play the same positions and have a similar profile. Jett is #51 prospect and AJ is #97. AJ is actually faster and a better fielder and hitter…just doesn’t hit for power.
Huge agree with the comment on Nolan. Kid’s a stud, but it’s not fair to put all that weight on him this early in his career.
Freddy was the missing piece to our rotation. Hyped!
I’m going to call sproat for Tobias a bit of a wash. So really this was Jett for a #1 starter. That seems like a good trade. If senga can stay healthy, he’s actually a #1. Then you have Peterson who had great numbers when he hit his innings max and Holmes who was a starter for the first time. Then you have McLean who showed greatness and Manea who may be Sale-like. We could have 6 number 1s….but we are the Mets lol. This could be gooden, cone, darling, Fernandez and ojeda
