  2. I don’t mind Rusty getting supplemental disclipline because that was kinda BS on his part. The inconsistency from Player Safety is just infuriating

  3. There’s an entire team in Miami that deserves hearings, but, funny enough, they never get them. Huh. Interesting.

  6. I feel for Boeser but it wasn’t even a hit by Rust, it was a collision.  Rusty was trying to NOT hit Boeser but get in there and make a play with his stick.  No idea how this can result in anything but a small fine, and I hope Boeser is ok. 

    EDIT:  there is another angle from behind the net that shows Rusty get his elbow up as he came through.  Not cool by Rusty and he deserves the hearing.  

  8. A hearing is kinda ridiculous. 3 players were trying to hit the guy with the puck on the doorstep in the dying seconds of a one goal game. The outcome is unfortunate but this isn’t a hit you’re trying to get out of the game

  11. I’ve seen like 4 blatant boarding incidents that didn’t even get a penalty during the game and no supplemental discipline. Glad Parros and DOPS are consistently inconsistent.

  12. Remember that elbow from a couple of weeks ago–I think it was on Novak? And absolutely nothing happened.

    Rust should have a hearing because of that hit. But how about we do it whenever it happens and not just randomly?

  13. Rust should have a hearing for the hit, but kind of crazy where we’re at now compared to the shit Sid used to have to deal with (Marc Staal anyone?)

  14. He likely deserves a suspension, but the NHL is far from consistent when it comes to what contact warrants a hearing/suspension. Suspend him, but just be fair about suspending that across the board.

  15. As a homer I’m annoyed that this is happening to Rust now. As a hockey fan I can’t deny that that was a dirty hit by Rust and he needs to face some sort of punishment for it. My greatest hope is that the league would take a league wide stance on these sorts of infractions and remain consistent. We’ll see.

  17. I’m fine with this costing him games. Concussions have to be taken seriously. He led with the elbow.

  19. Straight up I’m a Homer and didn’t even watch this game so I’m coming in late here…. but like, Boeser gets slammed from behind right as Rust is flying through. He had his elbow up for sure, but neither he nor Boeser anticipated that Boeser would get checked forward 3 feet at the same exact instant. I really don’t see a dirty intent here, I know that doesn’t (shouldn’t) play into suspensions or anything but I don’t get the people being all “OMG how could Rust do this I’m so disappointed!”. It should be a penalty and maybe(????) a game, not that we haven’t seen several actual malicious hits go unpunished this whole season…
