[Kaplan] Islanders sending back a 2026 3rd round pick for Soucy

  1. Not a high price to pay for a guy who could be a mainstay on our 3rd pairing till the end of the year, with no commitment beyond this year. Not bad

  2. I don’t think he’s worth a third round. But he’ll have the 2nd most goals by a d-man on our team, so I think this is a decent addition.

Edit: As I finish typing this, DeAngelo scores his 4th of the year. So I guess Soucy will be 3rd in goals on our team.

  3. Like I said in the other thread would be happy to give a 3rd to anyone but the Rags, would have preferred a 4th for them as if this pick pans out we’ll never hear the end of it.

Ah who am I kidding, Rags draft picks don’t pan out

  4. It’s not a world ending trade but for sure soucy is not worth a third especially in a draft we don’t have our second.

Getting fleeced by drury is awful

  5. Would have preferred giving up a 4th but if they really want an extra pick we have two 1sts so you can always move down

  6. Soucy has been bad this year but he’s a decent 3rd pairing defensemen if you look at his body of work over the last few years. He’s better than Boquist and the other 8D we’ve been cycling through.

  7. At first my thinking was why would we do this but it’s not a bad move after all. That third round pick probably won’t even make the league (assuming it isn’t some sleeper pick but even then it’s a shot in the dark). Maybe Roy can squeeze every ounce of mileage out of Soucy and he can be serviceable.

  8. My cutoff was a 3rd so I’m totally fine with it. We’re making a playoff push and our D is decimated. It’s a solid deal that doesn’t hurt our future

  9. I wonder who called who… Initiated by Islanders or Rangers….

Rangers call, i’ll probably not answer, or push it directly to voicemail, or tell them to fuck off and not call again EVER
