  2. Ngl that’s like the worst thing he could’ve said. Just take the L, say you need to do better and move on. Talking about “no need to look at the stats”…my man, I’m your biggest supporter but you’re not looking good this year, stats or eye test.

  3. Montembut! Fuck i miss Price, he definitely spoiled us, but the statistics say that he’s not even a mediocre goalie.

  4. Bring me back to the good days where Fowler and Dobes was our tandem. They take accountability at least

  5. En anglais:

    # Montembeault stays the course

There’s been a lot of talk about goalkeepers lately. Specifically, about THE goalkeeper, in this case Samuel Montembeault. After allowing two goals in 12 seconds Saturday night in Boston, the fury of some internet users was once again unleashed against the goalkeeper on social media, where, unfortunately, the heirs of Gustave Flaubert and Hubert Reeves are few and far between.

The Quebec goalie admitted that he could have stopped Fraser Minten’s shot that tied the game 3-3 in the last match, but stated at the same time that against Buffalo and even on the other goals against Boston, these are goals on which I can’t do much .

“You shouldn’t look too much at the statistics. I’m continuing to work ,” he added.

    TL;DR – What u/goldenmunky said.

  8. Shouldve worked on your game in the offseason. Not trying shit out during a season your getting paid to win. When the team is trying to go to the next level. Oh well, Montemblow aint part of the future either way. No wonder why Florida waived him

  9. Got no problem with this. You guys expecting a goalie to stop everything and when he doesn’t you tear his ass up. Go look at the breakdowns and go look how atrocious our pk is. Realize we aren’t a top of the line team. We are the youngest

  11. You guys certainly love to pick on a guy every year. I’m sure that helps them perform . Some fans should be ashamed

  13. While his teammates go out of their way to be polite, this guy is out here not taking accountability and saying “just ignore my terrible stats” lol

    Bruuuuutal.

The relief I’ll feel when this guy is in a different jersey will be immense.

[He has not improved his game one bit in seven years within the NHL **and the stats don’t lie.**](https://imgur.com/gallery/kXitXxq)

  15. Listen. If you aren’t playing well and playing a rival. Why not hit them or show some emotion. I’d tell the fans I understand zi wasn’t good. The next game I’d go out and try to fight and show aggression. If I’m going to lose I’m going to at least show emotion

  16. Monty is in the top 5 of the worst regular goaltenders of the past 25 years.

I want to like him as much as anyone else, but he’s a career 2nd/3rd goalie who had one good season and one very good half season with the Habs. Over a large sample size, the results are what they are. Since 2000, he’s near the bottom in career SV% and bottom-five in GAA among goalies with 100+ starts, and unlike most guys on those lists, he actually played 200+ games. That’s not bad luck, that’s just who he is basically.

You can factor in team quality all you want, but context doesn’t erase two decades of compiled numbers. He’s not awful every night, but he’s also just not good enough to be a starting goalie for a serious contending team.

  17. My problem with this isn’t if he’s right or wrong. It’s that as a top level athlete, he has an extremely flawed mentality. And it’s 100% the reason why he’s struggling this year.
Does anyone think Price ever thought like this? Do you think McDavid thinks like this? Ofcourse not. They always take 100% responsibility, even if it isn’t theirs, because that’s how they improve. You aim for perfection, that’s how you compete at the highest level.
