Former 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, now with the Denver Broncos, recently made comments that reignited fan discussion about the team's approach to player maintenance. Greenlaw said adjusting from Kyle Shanahan's practices in Santa Clara to Sean Payton's regimen in Denver was a noticeable challenge due to the increased intensity.

"It's just two different personality coaches," Greenlaw said.
"Sean's old school. He's going to do six days on, one day off. He's got his way of doing things. You're going to be practicing three hours on Wednesday, three hours on Friday. Shanahan, he's the complete opposite. He wants you fresh. It's two completely different mindsets."

I thought this was interesting. It goes against a lot of the narrative about the 49ers practice habits.

  1. Wait, I thought shannys practices were intense, hence all the injuries. This states the opposite.

  2. And in a super bold move by the Broncos, they don’t have a giant electricity station next to their practice field…

(This is a joke. I don’t know if that had anything to do with making the niner’s players’ ligament tissue into swiss cheese.)

  3. Gonna take a wild guess that in addition of the total dumbasses who run the health staff and S&C staff this practice style is also why we keep losing people so early. Considering we are reliant on a small group of aging veterans some of them don’t complete a full season, this gladiatorial death match mentality for practice has to stop or be eased up.

  4. Didn’t Dre get hurt to start the season, and have one of his worst years? Or am I tripping?

  5. What this really tells me is that the Eagles have the softest practices in the NFL
