Webb Joins WBC Despite Giants’ Opposition

  1. Why do they care? Not like he’s going to pitch in any meaningful games for them this year anyways.

  2. He gets to rest his arm when the lockout comes. They keep building rotations that can’t cover innings and leave the bullpen overworked. Now they have to build up a bullpen and rely on guys with questionable durability, and for the third year in a row cross their fingers that the young starting ‘depth’ will be plenty. And then jingle the keys around while talking about contending, as if that will make it happen. Webb ain’t buying it and I don’t blame him.

  3. Good. Who knows if he’ll ever play meaningful baseball while still being in his prime. Go for it, Webby

  4. Go for him. I know mouthpieces for ownership and management wont agree but hes a grown man who wants to play on the international stage.

  5. Well, Webb wanted reinforcements on the team, but the Giants were opposed to that, soooooooooo

  6. Glad he’s able to participate now after initially committing and pulling out in 2023.

Also love to see that several big name pitchers are committing to play, despite the timing of the tournament being less than ideal (tbh imo would’ve preferred it to happen at the end of the season in November instead of March)

  7. They’ve attempted to block Willy Adames too but they haven’t made a case this offseason to keep him from going .

  8. Good they don’t pay him market rate and still don’t build around him. He gave his whole career for a hometown discount. He deserves to compete for a championship at least once in his career
