The Dodgers are doing online marketing for Rupert Murdoch’s new media outlet, the California Post

  1. I don’t know why they posted this. Regardless of politics, never seen a sports team publicly promote a news outlet.

  2. Very disappointed that they can do this but we are almost a year out from their promise that they would announce efforts to support community members impacted by ICE and haven’t done a damn thing since. Sometimes it feels like they take their community for granted.

  3. Murdoch and his propaganda machine Faux News? Yeah I will never click an article from Ca Post bullshit

  4. Both Dylan Hernandez and Jack Harris went there. Dylan was very vocal about his criticism of the Dodgers going to the White House and is very anti-Trump. I dont know about Jack Harris. I wonder if they were promised that they wont force the sports section to be “conservative” in political tone. Regardless i wont support that rag even if i sometimes enjoyed reading their pieces in the LA Times.

  5. I’m old enough to remember when Dodgers held a launch party for the Hyper Loop to the stadium from the Sunset and Vermont metro station. Was going to be up and running by the opening day of 2020.

  6. Do the dodgers ever post unrelated paid content? I dont think this is about money, the owners have enough money to not care about paid twitter posts. This is just weird.

  7. What did y’all expect, literally Jack Harris and Dylan Hernandez jumped from the LA Times to this trash

  8. The CA Post has a sports page and poached two big Dodger reporters from the Times, Dylan Hernandez and Jack Harris.

  9. I saw that and thought it was extremely gross. Whoever is in charge of the social media accounts needs to take this shit down.

  10. Not going to hear the end of it from my wife. She’s from a bit south of LA. A little browner a little yellower. I always get daily reminders based on ice detention centers.

Making it real hard to keep my fandom based on sports alone when the Dodgers account itself is being used for this shit.

  11. Reminder for future consideration/awareness… the New York Yankees and Mets ROUTINELY plant clubhouse drama in the NY Post to generate buzz and interest in the teams over the course of the season

The trade off is the hope for sensational headlines boosting interest and engagement in exchange for pissing off their players.

So the Dodgers could be sacrificing team chemistry to boost interest.

Prepare yourself for slimy headlines ahead once the Dodgers drop a three game set

  12. Let’s not be naive.

Owners are likely MAGA because it’s all about the Benjamins.

  13. What the fuck is this shit? Are they trying to speedrun pissing away the goodwill from winning back to back?

  14. Please don’t call this a media outlet. It’s a small, tiny step above the National Enquirer if it’s anything close to the NY Post. For some reason I continually see Redditors quoting from it like it’s a serious outlet. I think they Mandela Effect it with New York Times or something but it’s a shithole gossip rag.

  15. The former LA Times Dodgers beat writer Jack Harris took a position at the CA Post. That’s probably why they are promoting it. Truly going to be a shit paper, and they are trying to lure the dodger fans in as a reader base.
