Jonathan Gannon will bring the quarters revolution back to Green Bay
January 26, 2026
Good article by Justis Mosqueda on what type of coverages Gannon runs and how it differs from Hafley and Barry.

Quarters relies on either:
1) Athletic as FUCK linebackers that can play hook zones underneath exceptionally well. Outside of Edge, we don’t have that (unless Hopper turns out well)
2) Extra DB packages at all times, with lots of backend speed for the deep 4. Bulls a lateral LOS thumper who is never deployed deep. None of our corners fit that archetype either.
We either need to fully rework the corner room, or draft better coverage backers. Seems like we’ll be a bit more active this off-season than most thought. Or we do nothing and this fails spectacularly.
No defensive scheme at any time should ever be professionally compared to a Joe Barry scheme for anything other then a complete training breakdown of absolutely what not to do in any case. Just to mention
Better load up on corners this offseason.
I think this may end up being similar to Hafley or better in terms of production. The dude has had his LOL moments for sure, but he is coveted around the league. I am sure we will all be in for a pleasant surprise
The more I learn about Gannon the more I lose faith in the coaching staff; just feels like we’re going back to Joe Barry, just with even less fire
I feel like, we don’t even remotely have the corners for that
Gannon’s schemes are to play off the ball and bend/don’t break zone coverage.
Every single game thread next season will be filled with internet rage about length of possession and how many yards his defense gives up, mostly on purpose.
Quarters? How bout stuff the run and contain mobile QBs?? Any scheme that is built to sweep the Bears for the next 10 years, that should be the focus.
It’s a system that works when your pass rush is good
think Gary can play the boundary?
The more I read about Gannon, the more I like our chances. Gannon historically has worked beautifully with a good D-line, which we have, and bolstering our secondary is a priority this offseason anyways. We’ll definitely be complaining about how soft our defense looks but the stats, and hopefully the scoreboard, will back it up.
By the way, we have Micah Fucking Parsons. I feel like that hasn’t gotten mentioned enough.

I’m holding out for the pennies revolution.
