Chicago Bears: Mocking The Mock Offseason Week 2

Week #2 of our new segment this offseason where I take the experts mock drafts and give my own research, thoughts, and analysis on how I would feel about those players being mocked to the Bears. These are quick thoughts and not full individual breakdowns.

This week the Bears had mocked to them:
Cashius Howell
CJ Allen
Caleb Banks
Dillon Thieneman
Anthony Hill Jr
Akheem Mesidor
Derrick Moore
TJ Parker
Peter Woods
Kayden McDonald

  1. BANKS!! NOOOOOOoooooo!!!!

Warming up to Thieneman, but a) he'd have to last until the 2nd round (not a first round value for us) and b) would need to ensure we have answers at both NT and 3T first.

    Come on, McDonald!

  2. I’m loving the fact that DT is in the lead by a wide margin. The only LB I’d be ok taking is Sonny Styles depending on who else is on the board. I’ve had a bad feeling Dillion was going to skyrocket up the boards. To be honest, I didn’t think it was going to be this soon. I’ve been mocking McDonald/Banks 1.25and Lee Hunter 2.57 recently. Before free agency we need at least 2 more. Why not? Learn from Grady and Dexter, and really light a fire under Dexter’s šŸ« to show him the time is now or you won’t be here in ā€˜27. Like you said, we will have better understanding come mid March, and see who rises/ falls from pro days and combine. Great video Adam

  3. There's no way the packers can take McDonald before the bears, cause the dumb ass packers do not have a first Rd pick this year, I think it will be McDonald at 25 overall for the bears.

  4. Enjoying the draft content, think my A1 pick in the 1st is Akheem Mesidor think he could be a real impact player and the age shouldn't be a concern for us with our window opening, that is a risk we could take.

Also think linebacker should be a way bigger priority, maybe not round one but with edmunds likely gone and Edwards coming back off a major injury especially with his age i do not like Demarco Jackson as our main man. Played good for us when he filled in but i would not feel comfortable at all going into week 1 in that scenario. think if we get a good linebacker and sure up the edge the defensive tackle issue won't be as bad as it seems. Plus, feel like you can get a big run stuffer in free agency most years if need be on relatively cheap compared to other positions. Depends on how the board falls but i wouldn't be upset if we went away from DT round one.

  5. The Bears should genuinely trade out of the first round with the Jets or Chiefs.

Also I watched some full game footage of Kayden Macdonald… Im not seeing what everyone else is seeing. We need someone who can take on double teams and WIN. He gets completely take out of plays if he’s doubled most of the time. The best at standing ground against doubles is Domonique Orange and the best at truly winning against doubles is Lee Hunter. (Based on the Bears picks in the first 3rounds)

  6. Great Adam thank you. There is a lot to get from your reactions to what and why you respond. Very informative.

I’m not certain if i have this right but i think the Peckers traded their number 1 to Dallas.

I’m more inclined to stay inside run stopping tackle. I’m more concerned about the best QB’s having a full menu of options which include bleeding us to death with the run game. Tackling on our Defense was suspect through the whole season. Also making 3rd downs longer gets help from stopping RB’s on first or second down with no gain.

The other issue is speed and size with the Edges that are mocked to us. 6’5 270 seems to be more of Poles and DA’s prototype edges. They may reach for the Edge from Cincinnati the more i think about it. Or leave it for 3rd or 4th round and get aggressive with Oline and Dline if they get guys who fit their ideology.

But also, if somebody falls because everybody is grabbing the same 10 or 12 guys, i’m always good with one of the top two DB’s or LB’s or even a game breaker at another position if there is a first day starter that has all pro capability. It’s how we got Luther.

  7. Trade DJ Moore and certain picks to the Raiders for pick 36 mock draft:

Pick 31: Caleb Banks DT Florida

Pick 36: Anthony Hill Jr. LB Texas

Pick 57: Lee Hunter DT Texas Tech

Pick 63: Cashius Howell EDGE Texas A&M

Pick 129: Nicholas Singleton RB Penn State
We traded down from pick 25 to pick 31 and 63 from a rare trade offer given to us during the time of the pick.
We resigned most of our productive free agents and made some new team friendly deals with unproductive ones. We wound up resigning Braxton Jones to a 1 year prove it deal. We couldn't add any all pro EDGEs outside of the draft as we're still dealing with the salary cap problem from overpaying on current contracts and resigning new ones that joined the team this year.

  8. Did a mock where I accepted a couple trade backs. No way this would happen in real life, but I can dream. First five picks I got Akheem Mesidor at 40, Lee Hunter at 57, AJ Haulcy at 74, Harold Perkins at 98, and Austin Barber at 129.

  9. I like Mesidor but he had injury issues in the past and he is older than Gervon Dexter, turning 25 before the draft. As for Moore not in the first… maybe in the 3rd, I like Parker more.
If the Bears can get Peter Woods or Kayden McDonalds I would love, it.

  10. Caucasian defensive back 😩in round 1 , very hard pass . As they say in the nfl inner circles – you need brothers to cover brothers !!!!!! Don’t over think it
