  1. as a steeler fan. not a huge fan of this, but then i look at what he did for greenbays offense and dallas. if he had a defense in dallas they had a chance for a SB. just hope he brings in the rite people. my biggest pet peave of Tomlin is he never had good coordinators

  2. Not a Steelers fan, but if I was I'd be pissed off. All the bitching and moaning about Tomlin and 9-8, 10-7, one and done playoff appearances. So they push Tomlin out for Mike FREAKING McCarthy? After what he did (didn't do) in Dallas. Because ancient Aaron Rodgers wanted him? The problem in Pittsburgh was never Tomlin IMO, it's LACK OF TALENT. If you're getting rid of Tomlin, you need a complete organization overhaul, with NEW blood. That's the only logical move. Instead, you brought in a placeholder to placate your 42 year old QB on his last legs. Guess what, Steeler fans? You're lucky to get 9-8, 10-7 and a playoff appearance next year. And McCarthy is DEFINITELY not another 20 year hire. But I feel for you. SMH…

  3. Chuck Noll was 38 when he became head coach of the Steelers.
Bill Cowher was 34 when he became head coach of the Steelers.
Mike Tomlin was 34 when he became head coach of the Steelers.
    McCarthy is 62.

  4. If they are going to go after a quarterback and kick the tires on one I would say Davis Mills would probably be a good option. He saved the Texans season. People were literally begging the coaches to put him in at halftime against the Patriots

  5. i feel sorry for the Steelers fans . What a ridiculous hire .
They need to rename Heinz Stadium , Geriatric Park and put the Statues of Art Rooney Jr. ,the GM and McCarthy out front . Because , evidently , these guys need to be put out to pasture .

  6. Rich.. about your comment saying no teams asked about Tomlin. Watch the Joe Shane WFAN interview the day Hardball was introduced to the media in New York. The press conference. Joe Shane afterwards speaking to WFAN the interview by Tiki Barber mentioned they reached out to Tomlin first before Harbaugh

  7. last 3 coaches age 1st year steelers HC – Noll 37, Cowher 35, Tomlin 35. McCarthy is 62. he could still coach into his 70's….. Cowher coached for 15 seasons

  8. The Steelers are my ‘AFC Team’. I’ve loved them since I was about 7. This is on the owner. I think he can continue their winning season streak but that won’t get them a qb of the future. I give him 4 years tops. I honestly think he’s a solid X’s & O’s guy but crappy at clock management

  9. Why is everyone acting like McCarthy is some bad coach, I don’t get it. He was in Green Bay forever and then the Cowboys and him just didn’t come to a deal

  10. Some of yall are so negative it’s insane. And this is coming from a Steelers fan. Boo hoo they didn’t pick a coach you wanted, it’s not y’all’s team to decide! He wasn’t my first pick either but whatever I’m hoping for the best! McCarthy is not a bad coach and I think if yall give him time he is going to prove it! Give him a chance! He hasn’t coached one game yet, then make your judgements. No one knows how this season is going to go. If he can get some good coordinators I think he can do well!

As fans we should stick by the team regardless of outcome. But if it’s still soo upsetting for you then don’t watch! It’s as simple as that.

  11. I'm not a Steeler fan, I'm a football fan…McCarthy is not the answer. Rodgers will not come back. The organization is in trouble…no quarterback with barely a coach.

  12. How about they actually just interview Shula and Scheelhaas in person before making this decision? Or interview McDermitt. Or if they're going for retread HC, talk to Harbaugh haha.

  13. Who gives a crap how likeable McCarthy is. This hire shows what a coward Rooney is. He's scared of change and not willing to invest in the facilities and staff needed to succeed in the modern NFL.

  14. Steelers best bet is to trade up in the first round and draft Ty Simpson. If McCarthy is a QB whisperer, then Simpson is the only QB in this draft that’s obtainable.
