Point-Counterpoint: Should The Bucs Re-Sign TE Cade Otton?

  1. Imo, if we can re-sign Otton for between 6-7mil per year for 3 years I’d be ok with it. Ultimately tho that money could be used to bring in an Edge Rusher and a MLB and maybe some veteran depth at CB. We could get similar receiving production from a 3rd or 4th round pick TE even if the blocking is not as good in their rookie year.

  2. He’s an okay safety blanket and a worse blocker. But we have greater needs elsewhere. If we can get him for $4M-$5M/yr is be ok with it.

  3. Pretty sure we are priced out of him. There are teams willing to pay more than we have seen from him. Its a real shame to, I had him pegged for a breakout year and as per usual I was super wrong.

  4. Absolutely. How many TEs in the league are on the field 97% of plays? His % was slightly lower this season since he was injured in the first quarter of the saints game but not many tight ends are on the field for both running and passing downs. That three different OCs in past 3 years have all used him the same volume tells you he is a much better blocker and receiver than outside rating services grade him.

  5. Unless it’s less than 7 million a year AND he’s forced to wear gloves, he should walk

  6. The guy that caught 1 TD despite playing almost every snap? He looked good in about 2-3 games but his lack of production and big failure moments were a big reason we didn’t score nearly our average compared to 24/23’. I say no unless he’s willing to do a cheap ass prove it contract.

  7. He’s solid but the bill is coming. If it’s for cheap cool, if it’s over 8 million imo, no way. Honestly even 7 is too much but
