Should Saints Sign Jets RB Breece Hall? | What Would Deal Cost New Orleans?
After Further Review On Demand is powered by BREC Golf
Matt Moscona breaks down why the New Orleans Saints should avoid taking a running back with their 8th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, despite mock drafts projecting Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love to New Orleans. He explains how running backs are devalued in today’s NFL, why investing a top-10 pick on the position is often a waste, and highlights a smarter alternative: signing Breece Hall to a four-year, $41.5 million deal. Matt details how Hall’s youth, durability, and fit with New Orleans’ inside-zone scheme make him a superior solution, while reserving the top-10 pick for a true game-changing player like an elite cornerback, wide receiver, or edge rusher. Saints fans, NFL Draft enthusiasts, and mock draft followers will want to watch this breakdown to understand the smartest path for building a championship offense around Tyler Shough.

In a word, no.
Get wr Coleman from the Buffalo bills get a running back out of the draft in the third round
Get a Guard in free agency. The rest of the line is solid when healthy. Im def ok with Breece Hall. But im taking Love at 8. Clearly no player is guaranteed to have success. Let’s try an offensive weapon for once rather than waste it on another DL bust.
My vote is for Bain. I know everyone is screaming for wideout but fix the trenches. We gotta get at least a high level guard in free agency before EVEN SNIFFING a wideout. Cam's coming back, rather get his next in line now.
We need 3 big body wrs but I want say yeah cuz love from notre dame may not be there but yeah if he is then we have 2 good rbs depth Who dat
Saquon had his best year under Kellen Moore. Get a 'guaranteed' piece with Breece Hall, get a Guard in FA also, draft BPA at 8. A+ OffSeason
Matt, I typically agree with you. Not this time. Bijon Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs were both taken in top 12 and are dynamic players. Regardless of how bad coaching was in Atlanta, you want a playmaker like Bijon. Jahmyr at 12th overall is special for the Lions. Love would fall in the same talent level as the aforementioned and would automatically help the saints offensively with a second year ascending quarterback Tyler Shough.
Love is better than Breece. RBs drafted high have continuously hit recently..
I would rather have a WR over RB at 8
They can get a guard in FA. No guard in this draft is worth taking at 8. If you don’t go for Hall, you draft Love at 8 if he’s there. Love will be your next franchise RB the next 4-5 years on a rookie contract. Or if Caleb Downs is there, you don’t pass on him. Possibly best defensive player in the draft
Isn’t valuation of RBs swinging in the opposite direction though?
Breece Hall is an upgrade
That all sounds great… but that’s if everything goes the way u want it to go Matt…. We all know a RB is a dime a dozen.. but if he’s worth that 8th pick then take him…..breese hall is a super RB but if u can get a game changer at that position at no.8 then (sheeeet) take um
Matt love your show, 5 years ago the rb position was devalued drafting a rb on the first 2 rounds was bad business, nowadays you if you look around, most great offenses have a great rb or a combination of 2 good ones, the position is slowly making a comeback
I agree here. I dont think taking love is the right decision. Now if they take him i aint gonna be mad at it. Hes a stellar player and would help. But based on need it has to be WR. WR not being a must is exactly how we get Kevin Austin jr, Ronnie Bell etc in the starting lineup
Love
Pregnon
Sarrat
Our O was trash 23rd…
Sugar water Mckinstry 😂😂😂
I will be shocked if Breece Hall settles for that contract
Breece Hall will go somewhere where he don’t have to split carries.
Getting a Corner DT and anywhere on defense is not going to help us get in the end zone and Breece Hall is not coming here to split carries 😂
YES THEY SHOULD WOULD BE A SOLID BUSINESS N TEA😅M UPGRADE AT THE RUNNINGBACK POSITION THEY DEFINITELY NEED HELP IN THAT AREA MY MAN KEEP U THA GOOD WORK ON OUR SQ😅UAD N FOREVER TEAM DA SAINTS WIN LOOSE OR DRAW ALL DAY EVERY DAY WHODATS WHODAT NATION INFINITY & BEYOND WHO DAT SAY DEY GON BEAT DEM SAINTS NOBODY OR DEY MUTHAFUCKIN MAMMY WHO DAT I SEE SEAN COULDN'T PULL IT OFF W😅ITHOUT HIS SO CALLED BREES CLONE/LOOKALIKE OR WHATEVER STILL A SOLID SEAN FOR COACH PAYTON & THE BRONCOS CANT WIN EM ALL IN MY DEVILS ADVOCATE VIICE AL PACINO PLAYING THE KICC KICC LAWYER SOUND HE MADE WITH HIS MOUTH💯
You can't pay Alvin and Breese Hall Too…
I think he would be a great investment. Dual threat guy with a strong will to win. AK has like 1 year left and the other guys have been underwhelming. Buy a guard. Get love on that offense
Your wish is my command, master.
Brother you just mention 80 percent success rate on a pick on running back. Meaning we have a better chance at hitting on a running back in the first round. Receiver is like 30 percent success rate in the first round.
The truth is if your OL and QB are good enough, you can get away with a lot at RB. From Pierre Thomas to Joique Bell to Mike Bell to Chris Ivory to Arian Foster to Matt Brieda, we've just seen so many guys (all those were undrafted) excel when given opportunities in the right scheme and surrounding cast.
I'm forgetting names too but certainly there are some different pedigree type athletes when you're talking Edgerine James type athletes however it's the one position in football (maybe LB too) where supply outweighs demand. I mean we saw a guy out of ULL run under 4.4 at over 210 pounds, deliver a great rookie year in SF as a knifing zone runner (Elijah Mitchell I think), than get replaced and never get a second look anywhere. I've just seen so many RBs like that.
Given the physicality of the position it's also harder to invest top dollar or draft capital because the shelf life is hard to predict. Saquan didn't deliver till his 2nd team really. Some peak late (Derrick Henry). Others peak early (James Robinson). You have to consider that. Plus how wide is the gap between a top guy and a good undrafted guy (if both are behind a good OL, in a scheme fit, with a QB to relieve pressure)?
It's no accident Terrell Davis, Alfred Morris, Bucky Irving can wreck it as day 3 rookies. Find em smart and tough with requisite athleticism, and forget consensus grades because it's the one position where James Robinson can go undrafted yet lead the NFL with 1500 yards as a rookie. Or super versatile football players like Kyren Williams can fall to the 5th. Only other positions with that kind of depth might be LB and special teams.
U sound stupid calling cool-aid a # 2🖕🏾
I agree no rb please.
Matt I love your content but it takes two to tango. If breece hall signs with the saints. They can prioritize a wide receiver at 8 or an offensive lineman but he has options like Kansas City. He can do a obj and go ring chasing but if he doesn't sign the best player to draft at 8 is still love if there. No offense but we took Reggie at 2 in 06 and you seen what happened. We could draft a wide receiver at 42 like Chris Bell or Elijah sarratt. People put too much stock into a wide receiver in the first but it is the most hit or miss position. You can sign a guard in free agency and Jeremiah Love would thrive. It's just apples and oranges at this point. We have until April to see what Kellen and mickey do in the draft. They might draft an offensive lineman for the 3rd year in a row and having us all wanting to slap them.
Not sure what you’re getting at with naming all the first round rb picks? Almost all those guys u names were great players
Round 1 RB is a luxury pick. Bad OLine already made an elite RB like Kamara look like a joke. Fix the OLine first before getting a RB.
We a difference maker, playmaker, cornerstone player at 8 PERIOD!!!
