“People come out of those interviews just going, who exactly is running the building?”

That’s Tom Pelissero of NFL Network talking about the Raiders coaching search.

Pelissero added that Tom Brady was broadcasting a game in Seattle “and Joe Brady is interviewing for the Raiders coaching job on the same day?”

Who “exactly” is running the Raiders?

  1. So Tom Brady isn’t as involved in the football operations as everyone is making him out to be? Isn’t that a good thing?

  2. Like i can’t say i necessarily blame HC prospects to have some questions and reservations about the pecking order/chain of command/day to day running of things.

Is it as simple as “So I report to Spytek and Spytek reports to you? What about Mark?”

    All valid questions.

  3. The guy doing this spot from the back of a fucking uber can’t reconcile how Brady could be involved in an interview while not in Vegas?

  4. Tom is just getting into this. This team is in a rebuild. It’ll mesh and when it does it’ll be a sight to see. With Mendoza coming and the current squad of HC candidates I smell a season with more than 5 wins. We have a shit ton of cap too.

It’s gonna be hard to fail this year and the next. We just need a coach who isn’t gonna Geno smith us during the season.

  5. This is nothing but Tom Pelissero speculating about what candidates might be thinking, because apparently it’s ok for him to conduct interviews by zoom from his car. But Brady somehow can’t leave a telecast, go to his hotel, and do a long, in-depth interview like we all do all the time at work. This is not a quote from a candidate. This is a guy who appears to be puffing himself up, implying he knows something without even claiming this is a real concern actually expressed by anyone.

    Until shown otherwise.

    Nothingburger.

  6. I mean this guy taking an interview from his car. I’m sure Brady can join from the jet or Skype… lmao this dude has no idea imo

  7. Been saying this for years. Now Tom is working 2 jobs but we are the side hustle that he controls.

Theres way too many cooks in the kitchen. Makes no sense but it’s our reality now as fans

  8. You know it’s funny, I had someone tell me like a week or two ago, that the Raiders HC job is the MOST attractive HC job in the NFL. Doesn’t matter how many coaches we fire, it doesn’t matter how chaotic the team is, the Raiders were the MOST attractive job because we have the top pick and a ton of cap room. Just shows that once again, we have the dumbest fans in the league

  9. Who cares if Tom Brady is in Miami and the team is in Vegas. We have NFL fan bases that cry all the time about owners that mettle and now we’re crying about an owner that ain’t there. This whole world going soft and don’t know what the hell they want. Get a guy that can lead men and develops Mendoza and get a defensive coordinator that can get the defense off the field on 3rd downs and we’re set. All this complaining shit is depressing.

  10. This is nonsense national writer clickbait. This can all easily be hashed out in the interview process and is likely not only not a big deal but no deal at all.

People aren’t dropping out of interviews like this is Cleveland.

  11. I think this is a coherent point that a lot of people have been questioning lately. Without a clear chain of command, you can have organizational failures that simply shouldn’t happen.

Randy clearly has a ton on his plate and it’s not in a position to run the day today for the Raiders. His role should simply be as an advisor. Spytek should be running things and reporting directly to Mark.

  12. Who? no one knows. Why? because someone is havcing fun. The RAIDERS NEED NEW OWNERSHIP. Nothing will change until that happens.

  13. So, what’s the problem? This seems to point to TB being in a purely advisory role based on his minority ownership stake and football resume. If he’s not there for all the interviews, doesn’t this seem like solid evidence that Spytek is running the show? And if an interview candidate has questions about the pecking order, should they not have an opportunity to ask them during the interview process? This sounds like speculation on the part of Pelissero, who is NOT part of the organization.

“People come out of those interviews going, who exactly is running the building?”

Do they? Or is that just his perception? I get it. The Raiders have been a big mess. Big messes take time to clean up.
