You think Purdy should have credit taken away from him because of the players that surround him what but why don't you do believe the same thing about Stafford? He had a great offensive line the best running game amazing receivers, and a top 5 defense.
You actually think you can Ayiuk and Jennings are better than Puka Nacua and Devante Adams? And Ayiuk they played a few games in the last two years and he wasn't even up to par those games.
If everything is set up around him? The last two years you couldn't say that.
Does this guy watch the Niners? He’s way off
Niners shouldn't change anything Brock purdy is mvp cmc is only getting better and Trent is helping alot no need wasting draft picks on stars when KS has a plan with out them…
Purdy is "7-8 to 12-15 range " ???? WTH are you talking about ?????????? OMG …yeah not even listening now. BTW. FACTS contradict your words there chief……. $%& that.
This guy just hating on Purdy and the tean. 5 of 7 stars were injured at least half the season. Brock is a top 10 qb. You can tell on some of his takes, Guy had a look of like what is this guying talking about lol
The more i listen to this interview the more i feel this guy doesnt know shit. Hes grasping at straws on some.of his comments
Let’s be honest Rams would not have gotten as far without Nacua, the most valuable player on that team.
Brock is not elite but they put a oline and some weapons around he 💯is good enough to win a chip
Matt, Lets classify the draftees as A, B, C, D, & E. The A's are probably your top 15-20 players in the draft. The the B's, C's, D's, and E's. It is entirely possible that an A, falls late into the first round or even the second much like Emmanwori fell. Then as noted, Puka went in the fifth round. Warner and Kittle were not top picks. So you never know.
The Niners need a wide receiver. Problem is that the Niners could be looking at the 6th or even 7th receiver taken. Everything else is to upgrade or to build depth. The Niners areas of improvement are OT, OG, and TE. Edge and Safety are not as priority as OT – Williams retirement. OG – Weak spot. And TE – Kittle's injury. Adding more depth at Edge and Safety are important.
If a A player falls to the Niners at 27 you take him regardless of the position. If a B player falls to C level, you take him. If TE Yadig falls to 27 you take him. If CB McCoy or LB Reese falls you take him. Not knowing the Niners board, but if a group of players are roughly equal, then by all means draft the area you want to strength. The tough part is that this draft is weak on OG, S, and TE until the later rounds.
As for the Purdy – Darnold or Jones or whomever arguments, Purdy is a damn good QB. Just about any QB would look good behind the Seahawks line throwing to those receivers. And how would Darnold look playing on the Niners offense missing three and a half starters – Aiyuk, Bartch, Kittle, half a Pearsall?
Yes, the Niners need young stars. Could already be on the roster. The Trey Lance trade set the Niners back and they are just now recovering from it. The young Niners gained valuable experience in the playoffs. And remember, the team that wins in the playoffs is usually the most healthiest. The Niners were mostly healthy during their last Super Bowl run.
Lenoir isn’t better than Witherspoon? But Lenoir has better stats?
I am hoping this man writes for a living cause listening to him talk is almost as bad as watching him talking both of which are on par with gargling thumbtacks…Brock is top 5 even with diminished talent get him a WR & a run game. I am not sure what fixes this thing offers, but I not sure I can stick around to watch them jiggle out of his neck hole any longer. Makes you wonder what happened to Salacious Crumb & why he couldn't make it, I have never seen the two apart.
How can you say we were healthy on offense with Purdy, Kittle, Trent, Aiyuk, & Pearsall missed a ton of games?
People still underrating Brock. I promise you if you give him Nacua and Adams or a Smith Nj he’s top 5 easy. The guy was feeding Demarcus Robinson and JJ all year
Will nobody tell these boomers about camera angles?
Offense was good. I watched the game again and the offense was moving the ball. Mcafree was open several times so was tonges. Turnovers and purdy not seeing robinson and missing on jennings from a clean pocket
This guy is a guesser like everyone else
I like this guy. He doesn't sugar coat it. Brock is tier 2 and the roster is not as good as people want to believe.
This is a tough interview to listen to. At first I was like f this guy but if we’re honest when is the last time they drafted a proven star besides getting Wayne lucky with Brock? BA right? A bottom of the top wideout. I’m not talking what ifs. No one’s has stayed healthy all year or proven to be a stud. Hopefully one of the draft class from this year has a breakout next year or these guys need to revamp trading and picking. Stouts fine but he’s still 5.8. So he has his limits. H s I he closest they’ve come unless I missed someone.
Im glad I read the comments first. Love you Guy but I have no interest in listening to a dude who sounds like he doesnt actually watch Brock.
This guy is clueless. No roster i better than the Eagles last year, same with this year. Seattle's roster right now, is great. Obviously you dont know much. And KC defense from 23 was elite, with 2 elite corners, and best defensive player in the league with Chris Jones. You are officially a moron, congratulations.
The margins in the NFL are small. People get too caught up in the moment to appreciate how small the margins actually are. The Rams are not a significantly better team than the 49ers, let alone a fully healthy 49ers team. The Seahawks played awesome football down the stretch but other than playing the Rams and a highly injured 49ers team they haven't played a good team since their one-score win against the Texans in week 7. The 49ers weren't just extremely injured against the Seahawks, they also had a crazy rest disadvantage with the Seahawks having a full weeks of rest and the 49ers having had to play a road playoff game just 6 days earlier. The Seahawks also were remarkably healthy all year and still might lose their OC either this offseason or next year. So no, I don't think the gap is that big actually.
The.margins.in.the.NFL.are.small.
There's no way the MVP vote should be close unless the Northeast gets overrepresented in the voting. Stafford should win it handily.
If Seahawks win the Super Bowl. Shanahan has to go. First year the season wasn’t perfect and he was above 500
Josh “I don’t think Seattle is a great team” lmao I thought he looked so butt hurt salty when he said that
49ers need to stop reaching for most of their Draft picks!
If you haven't seen it, I'll break this interview down for you. Brock is a tier two QB according to Dubow.
The Niners draft poorly and Purdy needs top tier players to make them competitive with the best teams.
Most people know that at some level even if there's some disagreement of where Purdy is in the pecking order.
The problem is, is that they're in on a big contract with Brock and the other being that finding a QB in the draft is going to get harder and harder.
Just look this year's QB class beyond Mendoza.
Arch Manning appears to be inching towards the real deal but some bottom feeder like the Jets will snatch him up.
Purdy can be that guy but he needs weapons to win.
Even '81 Montana had some blue chippers like the speedy, Freddie Solomon and a highly underrated Dwight Clark.
Charle Young had been a pro bowl TE.
Montana had some talent around him and it only got better with each successive season.
The Niners are horrible at drafting and Kyle lets picks rot on the bench, like Guerendo.
If he's not good enough then move on. He's taking up a roster space.
Their player evaluation is broken.
Their drafting on need for their system based on players whose traits "might" fit it is awkward at best.
And when those players are primarily chosen by a guy who won't even be in a position to coach them, seems more than slightly dysfunctional.
And now the team is hamstrung and must hire a DC like Bradley because there's continuity.
Well the plus side is that Bradley won't be poached by other teams, even if he is successful. Breaking 60, he'll be deemed too old.
All of the handwringing is already stale and it's been a week since the season is officially over.
Hufanga and greenlaw
This guy is a constant pessimist. I know it helps him get engagement but is he ran the team they would just pack things up and sell
it's not solely the receivers fault, its Kyle 's scheme and awful offensive line, awful drafting…everyone shares in the blame, Hawks and Rams draft best available player..Kyle and Lynch draft for scheme with alot of reaches..add in the 100 million wasted on DT, and wasted pics on Trey Lance ..49ers will be 3rd in the west for the foreseeable future
“If you put the right pieces around him” They’ll never stop this narrative no matter what he does. Matt Stafford doesn’t beat Seattle with Puka, Davante Adams, Kyren Williams, Corum and a great offensive line. But that’s ok. Purdy a tier 2 QB? Josh Allen doesn’t get to the AFC Championship but he’s the top tier guy. Absurd
Yeah, this take on Brock is BS. This guy’s been operating with second stringers when he hasn’t been injured due to a half assed line he’s running for his life out there against top-tier teams with no one to throw to and I loved Juan Jennings.
RE The Brock Purdy Question….Isn't there a question to be asked that what other QB would have gotten more from this offense given the Receiver core and their lack of speed and separation? Which other QBs would have been able to throw into the tight windows that Brock was having to throw into? I would argue that Stafford's INT rate would have been way up if he was given what Brock had to work with
