Honestly he looks a bit like he’s running out of steam which pretty common for a rookie. Makes it worse that the schedule is compressed already
Olympics will be huge for him, I bet he plays a big role on that team as he is shown to be a dependable and versatile player. Coach will love him.
Not particularly sold on Kapanen – he’s still young and learning which may reflect why he doesn’t do what’s required for a 2C in playmaking. He does a great job finding seams to receive passes and score a few goals here and there, which (I believe) has put pressure on Demidov to be the line’s key playmaker (which really isn’t supposed to be his role).
Ideally Kapanen would best fit the role of a 3C on an actual contending Habs team – meaning this club still needs to find a way of plugging that spot (and asking or hoping that Hage will be that guy is an extraordinary and unfair gamble).
