  • “We’ve faced a lot of adversity this year and I think just take it day by day, shift by shift.
  • He blacked out after scoring.
  • “I kind of got trampled there in the corner. So I mean, I think the boys were pretty excited.”
  • He thought he was going to delay, but then he realized he had a step on the Bruins defender.
  • “For us to win, I think we’ve got to play a physical, north-south game.
  • He’s probably going to watch the replay of his goal.

Gabe

  • “I think it was a really good performance overall up and down the lineup.”
  • “Anytime you get a win, it’s the best feeling.”

JT

  • “I think we came in with a good mindset today. You know, we can’t sit around and feel bad for ourselves. We need to attack and go forward. If you're going to make mistakes, make them playing hard.”
  • Better attention to detail made a difference in their game tonight.
  • “Just threw a lot of pucks at the net tonight, You know, we had pucks and bodies. Two of the three goals were good examples of that. Just shooting pucks with sticks and people.”
  • “We have a close group in here. You know, this isn’t the position any of us wanted to be in at the start of the season, but it's business and we’re just trying to treat it like normal.  You know, we have a lot of fun together in this room… We’re just trying to go day to day.”
  • “We need [the young guys] to chip in. You know, Robby’s (Robertson) has come so far in his game this year. You know, I think he might not get as much credit offensively. Like I think he can make some plays… I mean to slip a guy like that, that's a high-end play today. So to see him get rewarded for that is nice. And think Gabe is just really coming along. He makes a lot of plays away from the puck, and I think that’s just, you know, when you're that age, it's all about earning a leash… He takes care of the puck, does what he’s supposed to, and you know, he has the ability right there today to make high-end plays, too, that you know, we’ve seen up till this level. I’m happy for them. Like, they’re big parts of our team, and I’m sure they’re only going to get better with more experience.”

Sully

  •  “I’m happy for the players. To get a win at home in that fashion, I think is a huge boost for that group… I loved our fight… I couldn’t be more happy for the players. I think they deserved that one.”
  • “When we can infuse our lineup with youth and energy, I think it bodes well for us moving forward.” He likes the way Gabe is playing with JT and Mika. He has the "instincts" to play with them. “Labs is continuing to grow and develop.” He feels comfortable sending out Cuylle and Laba against anyone. “Robby’s been pretty good on the blue line for us. You know, he has pretty good offensive instincts, also.”
  • He thinks consistent ice time helped Gabe. Mika and JT have taken Gabe “under their wing.” They were mindful to make sure he wasn’t getting overwhelmed, that’s why he moved down the lineup for a time. Being overwhelmed can set players back in their development. “There’s going to be growing pains along the way; that’s part of the process.”
  • They’ve moved Robertson around the lineup. They had confidence in him to send him out during overtime. They try to reward players for good play with more ice time. If they feel they’ve had a rough game or they’re lacking confidence, they move them down or make other adjustments.
  • “I’m thrilled for Quickie. Not only does he get a win, this win, if I’m not mistaken, moves him in 12th place in front of Glen Hall for all time wins as a goaltender in the NHL, which is an incredible achievement. And I just think that speaks volumes for his body of work in this league. He means a lot to this team. He’s a great leader. He competes extremely hard. He’s one of the more popular guys in our dressing room, for good reason. I just think all of us that our part of this team have so much respect for what he’s accomplished in this game and his passion for the game, and he continues to strive for excellence every single day. His work ethic is impressive to watch, day in and day out, and I think that speaks to his ability to play at such a high level at the age that he’s at, that’s not easy to do. And so, happy for him because he’s competing hard.”
  • He thinks they had a good mindset going into the game. They’ve talked about simplifying things and getting everyone going and into the flow early in the game. Taking penalties or giving up goals makes that difficult.
