I still got faith in Zacc, but a lot of y’all were talking CRAZY about Clingan when we won the lottery, and it’s worth noting this dude is tailormade to fix our most glaring deficiency

I guess my point is all of us on here really don't know shit about anything or how it's gonna turn out 🤷🏻

Yup.
I still have faith in Zacc also, it’s been a weird year for him. Snyder doesn’t really seem to trust him and it seems some of his confidence is kind of shot.
And yeah, I won’t lie. Seeing Clingan, Sarr, Reed, etc have such strong second years sucks.
But I just want Zacc coached and developed. Snyder has done a nice job doing that since he got here (see Jalen) and I hope he’s workin with Zacc
Hawks need a big man —> Hawks luck out in winning the lottery in a weak draft but one filled with talented big men (Sarr, Clingan, Edey) —> Hawks draft a small forward🙁
13 ORebs lol kill me
We literally just watched him play like shit against us. Dyson Daniels was having his way in the paint. Clingan offered zero resistance. Portland won the Timelord minutes and that secured their win.
I think Quin wanted Clingan but we’re still really looking at all this in hindsight. The consensus pick for #1 was either Zacch or Sarr for months and we went the safe route.
Bro there are thousands of people here ofc tons of people have bullshit opinions
He’s been good but idk at his size and movement I still dunno how he would go in the playoffs. Granted we don’t even make the playoffs lol but idk I feel like he might get exposed when teams are spacing, hunting him on the perimeter and playing with transition pace. he would fix so much of our current problems though
It was against the wizards? That means about as much to me as G league box scores
Dudes like Clingan are a dime a dozen and I’d take Zacc over him, today. And I’m not even a Zacc glazer
We don’t take a center and we have a hole there. We don’t take Zach and we have a hole at sf lol Same shit. Stop fucking crying about a draft that’s not going to change.
Tbh unless you are a super star level center, have some extreme outlier skills at that size, or are a uniquely athletic freak with center size, I think Bigs who can’t really put it on the floor are a fade for me most of the time.
The NBA’s two biggest surpluses are point guards/shooting guards who can’t defend at a high level and centers.
Unfortunately big guards, athletic wings, and athletic forwards are more valuable archetypes simply cause they are less available and impossible to get anywhere but the draft.
Koloko’s been doing an awesome job so far and we scooped him up after a 10 day.
It’s less about how good they are and more about what you have to pay them to retain them compared to the number you can poach these guys at with similar production on the market.
Edit: Look at Isiah Harteinstein for example, OKC just grabbed him in free agency, fixed their center rotation, and won a championship. But the core was big guards, athletic forwards, and athletic wings.
I’m curious who you guys think would be our SF if we didn’t draft Zacch? The way we have a hole at C now is the way we’d have a hole at SF if we didn’t got Zacch. Or suddenly we should have kept Dre?
Lets not pretend like center was the only position that needed fixing.
Another day, another cherry picked stat line to try and rile up the sub
Zacc needs burn. He hasn’t gotten that this year. Injuries or otherwise. Coach Quin is our problem. Do we need a center? Lord yes. Wizards are forced to feed Sarr ATM and he is FEASTING. IF we aren’t trading Zacc, I think he still has a lot to prove. We all forget what we saw last year. He did almost win ROTY…..
I mean he grabbed 20 boards and was still -17 against arguably the worst team in the league.
Big bodied centers are literally a dime a dozen. We just picked up Koloko off the street and he is immediately performing. I’m not saying that Zacch for sure is going to be the more valuable player but it’s way easier/cheaper to find Clingans production (or an approximation of it) on the market than what Zacch ideally could provide.
It is one game. Pretty much any player will have a good game if you give them long enough of a run. Should we screenshot the stat line from every good game?
Clingan isn’t a Hawks player and there are no rumors (at least that I’m aware of) that he will become one.
I didn’t watch the game so I can’t comment on it specifically but he shot 6-17 and had those 13 offensive rebounds. Without having watched the game, I’ll assume he played like Angel Reese.
Isn’t Clingan going to be making 20+M in free agency? He might also be a restricted free agent and not an outright free agent.
The Hawks need talent and beggars can’t be choosers but the Hawks should spend their money better. Koloko is playing fine and if you expect that to continue then the Hawks would have a lot of money remaining to spend elsewhere. Money that would be spent a lot more efficiently elsewhere than it would be on Clingan.
I’m sorry but the organization is dumb as fuck if they pass on a cheap option like Koloko to sign Clingan. I liked Ryan Kalkbrenner in the draft and he has had a good rookie season. He is the same profile of player as Cligan. The Hawks could’ve had him so much cheaper than Clingan.
We have to prioritize value for money on most contracts (salary cap league), and that especially includes low usage players.
Wanting Clingan because the Hawks need a center is poorly thought out and incredibly reactionary.
