The starting rotation is actually… not too bad! The “lack of an ace” thing seems to be coming to an end- Maddux will help EVERYONE- Soriano is likely our ace, which I personally don’t mind if he puts up another good season, Rodriguez is great if he’s not injured, Kikuchi being our 3rd starter is actually a good idea because he’s NOT A TRADITIONAL ACE. Detmers back in the rotation is GREAT, I think he can be really good- 4th starter only because he’s JUST returning from being a reliever, Bido can be good too, high upside, I have a feeling he won’t be too bad of a starter, hopefully high 3 to low 4 era, Maddux can potentially help him out and make him reliable and a mid 3 era.
The lineup is actually pretty solid!! Neto batting first is a given considering how great he was last season, Schanuel batting 2nd is also I think pretty fair, he also had a sneaky good 2025 and I have A LOT of confidence in him. Trout batting 3rd is great as far as overall offense goes, DH to help him stay healthy, Adell batting 4th is a great idea- power hitter, potential team HR leader if the breakout is legit. Lowe batting 5th is only fair, he obviously didn’t have the best season last year but I do think he has a lot of potential, he has speed and power as well, not a bad spot. Moncada batting 6th is also pretty good, he has some solid power AND is a switch hitter despite being better as a lefty. O’Hoppe batting 8th makes sense due to the season he had last year, but with Suzuki and Stassi, I think he could really turn things around, I still love O’Hoppe and his potential. Moore batting 9th makes sense, first full season in the big leagues likely, solid power guy, reliable.
The bullpen IS NOT BAD- I like Silseth and Sandlin in the bullpen to help out, Saucedo can be a decent LHS, Pomeranz and Stephenson are great, Lawyerson I feel like is gonna be good. Yates could go either way, but I have a lot of faith he can put up a sub 3 ERA season with Maddux’s help, AND I think that Maddux can help everyone.
The defense? Has its issues, but also has its upside. Neto is obviously great at what he does, self explanatory. Schanuel is actually a pretty decent defensive 1st baseman, still developing- but the tools are definitely there. Lowe in CF is amazing, great defense, great speed. Adell in RF is amazing, inconsistent defensively, but in recent years has put up gold glove caliber seasons defensively. Moncada- isn’t great frankly, there was a time where he was a really good defensive 3rd baseman, and he can still make really good plays, but when we think of Moncada, we think power- still overall not bad. O’Hoppe can be great if helped by Stassi and Suzuki, as well as d’Arnaud, his defense has been inconsistent and frankly bad this past season, also wasn’t great in 2024. But he’s shown moments of greatness defensively, blocking decently in 2024 and throwing out some of the games best runners. I don’t mind it.
As far as the bench? It’s not that bad, it’s all righty batters on the bench which is the only weak side, but, the players are pretty good for a bench spot, Teodosio on the bench makes sense at this point in time, his defense and speed as well as occasional contact and power is good for the bench, Peraza is pretty good defensively and has upside offensively, specifically in the contact department. Paris has a lot of upside, though he’s been struggling and slumping, DH middle infield or outfield flexibility, he makes sense on the bench, his defense is pretty good, offense isn’t bad, he has above average/good speed. d’Arnaud on the bench as a backup catcher to O’Hoppe, as well as an emergency DH if needed.
I really appreciate you guys reading this, let’s go Halos!!
I don’t HATE this possible 26 man roster.

OTHER NOTE: Joyce could come back and take over a bullpen role somewhere when he’s back from the IL. Thanks again for reading!!
I’m not sold on this roster at all unless some guys make big leaps forward. If they play like they did last year, I’d expect a .500 season at best.
Osvaldo Bido should probably be used as a reliever. The 5th starter (assuming no one else is signed) will be probably be Manoah or Kochanowicz
I do
Lol we’re losing 90+ games again 😭😭😭
I think I’m only really caring about this season to see if O’Hoppe takes a step & becomes more consistent, and to see big poppa play some damn good ball. Damn I just want competitive baseball played in mid August – September
#5~9 + whole bench made of AAA bats = line up is solid and bench is not that bad lol
You should…
lmao i expect 65-75 wins. This team is bonafide not the worst but not even a solid average team.
It’s a 75 win team if we’re lucky. Maybe 80-85 if the reclamation projects actually turn it around
I think this is what most are expecting the roster to look like. Only differences I’d expect:
5th starter: Dana/Manoah > Aldeghri > Kochanwicz
Relievers: Romano’s in but other than that some combo of Zeferjahn, Fermin, Bachman, Laweyson will fill out the remaining spots since they have options
2nd base/bench spot: Grissom probably gets in there too since we made a trade and he’s out of options. Probably depends on if they want Moore to spend sometime in the minors or not for where Grissom fits in. If its the bench probably drop Paris then.
All in all I’m going in with no expectations. Can’t be disappointed that way lol
Stop lying to yourself
if we even approach .500 with the roster in its current iteration i will be floored
I agree. Could be a young/fun team to watch.
The problem is not really if THIS lineup can be competitive. Don’t get me wrong…it’s not great. It will win some games but the real problem is when half of THIS lineup goes on the DL and we have to field AA players to fill the slots. Injuries happen to every team but we just do not have the depth to recover like most teams do. I’ll hope for the best like I have done for the last 30 years but it is what it is…..
Can you slow the scroll down please?
You must not hate not making it to the playoffs as well. This roster is worse than last year. Our only hope is maddux can somehow pull off a miracle and we become a pitcher factory and have a team ERA of around 3. Cause this lineup ain’t scoring shit.
I’m starting to puff on the Hopium too. Every year around this time. But we all know what’s really going to happen come August or so.
