CRITICAL: Tyler Stephenson TRADE POSSIBLE as Cincinnati Reds Leave MANY Bread Crumbs

Cincinnati Reds brace for a potential turning point as Tyler Stephenson’s future with the team comes into question. With contract talks reportedly stalled and Jose Trevino and Ben Rortvedt making waves at Reds Fest, Jeff and Steve dig into front office signals suggesting a major move could be looming. Is Nick Krall preparing to pull off a Tampa Bay-style roster reset by trading the Reds’ top offensive catcher as team control dwindles?

Bench depth becomes the next hot topic, exposing glaring weaknesses in the Reds’ roster. Can Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Will Benson, or JJ Bleday step up, or will Cincinnati be forced to rely on Garrett Hampson and untested prospects? With the Reds eyeing sustainability and holding onto their defensive-first catcher tradition, questions swirl about Opening Day roles and whether Nick Krall’s silence signals a bigger shakeup ahead. Don’t miss this candid assessment of the Reds’ crossroads and the players who could define 2026.

  1. BEN RORTVEDT is a total stud!!! He was awesome for the Dodgers! By the way, Rortvedt's bat did contribute to the Dodgers success in 2025. Great at bunting, too. A smart baseball player. I am firstly a Dodger fan….I want Rortvedt back on the Dodgers – that is how much I value Rortvedt. You need to look at his stats on the Dodgers for a more accurate view. Dodgers helped him refine his batting.

  2. By the way, I started following the Reds because the amazing Terry Francona became the Reds Manager. I admire Francona. Should be HALL of Fame as MLB Manager, after he retires. 👏

  3. Stevenson caught stealing was one or zero? So he threw out one or no base runners in 2025 is that correct? Looks like his caught stealing percentage has tapered off as well. I hate to see the 13 home runs disappear but at the same time we have to stop runners advancing.

  4. Even if Tyler Callahan is healthy and performs well, he is quite likely to snap a limb dive head first 110% into the dugout going after a foul ball during the 1st inning of a scoreless game, 3 games into the season

  5. Trading Tyler now means Reds have to find at least a consistent catcher (around 1 WAR) to platoon with Treviño. I don't think Jose could be a good bat all season. When Dunno get closer (AAA), maybe we could trade Stephenson

  6. There is zero evidence of a trade 😂 they obviously haven’t had an imminent deal. So they just scratch him in case he’s traded??like who cares? Hes a red right now. Reading way too much into that.

  7. What gives the reds the balls to go glove first catcher? They’re 5 badass sluggers elsewhere in the lineup? 😂 Make sense of what you said. You really think they can afford to purposefully have a worse hitter at any place in that lineup? 😂 amateurs man.

  8. Stephenson is the only Reds catcher who can hit a lick. The other Reds catchers are "Rally Killers." Might as well hand a bat to a ball girl. Fans have been screaming for lineup additions who can hit. How could they dump Stephenson? That would be a step in the wrong direction. Picking up Austin Hayes would beef up the lineup and, by extension, the bench.

  9. Suarez must be the priority bat for this lineup. Trade Tyler Stephenson for J.T Realmuto, who's a perfect bat and fit for the Reds right now. Would also get Ozuna. This front office needs to have a sense of urgency instead of sitting at their desk, filling their pockets instead of going for it.
