Hi there! This article takes a look inside the data for Sean Couturier's season, specifically his finishing woes, to find out what could possibly be the cause and if there's any hope of it turning around.

  1. >What’s Going on With Sean Couturier?

He is 33 yrs old and has had two back surgeries.

  2. If he waives. I think a contender could possibly be interested if we eat half the cap hit. He can still PK. Still take faceoffs. His cap hit would be under 4 mil and there might be someone interested to make him their Jordan staal playing about 13 or 14 mins.

I would look to move him and sanheim this summer. A tear down is needed. If only Comcast would allow it

  3. He was never that great to begin with

Flyers fans get carried away. Check Malkin’s stat line in that series where he was “shut down”

  4. One of the worst contact extensions in franchise history.

In the pre salary cap era, he just would have been a mistake Snyder absorbed who would be a muck and grinder on the PK2 and 3rd/4th lines with limited minutes.

He would never have worn the C either. One of weakest captains they have had on or off the ice.

  5. Bro just put this guy on the fucking fourth line for the rest of his career

Seems better than tocchet having him go with nic and hath one minute then Michkov and fucking brink or whatever the next.

Idk. In a perfect world coots would be our 3c right now but tocchet doesn’t care to try to make that work

  6. One thing that I’ll mention is that players like Couturier (Cates, Frost to an extent) who have good underlying play driving metrics, great defensive stats, but don’t really score a ton get way more flak when the goaltending is bad and the team isn’t scoring. It’s really hard to see the effects of their game in these situations, because it’s frustrating to see a team lose 1-3 than to lose 4-5. So players like Couturier/Frost especially become scapegoats for the larger issues, which has been up to this point, mostly goaltending. I’m not saying the Flyers are contenders if they had Sorokin, but it is making a lot of their issues WAY more painful.

  7. He was never a goal scorer. He happened to have a couple really good years when he was up against lesser competition, but he was always primarily a defensive player.
