if we’re spending a high pick on an O-lineman, I want it to be a true tackle who can hopefully take over from OBJ in a year, not a guard
Caleb Tiernan or Isaiah World are guys I would quite like in the second/third – both are LTs who would benefit from sitting a year and learning, and are naturally better pass protectors than run blockers
not a priority for us.
I’m absolutely in on using a premium pick to invest in the OL. That said, he’s a RT who may move inside. While *technically* we don’t have a RG at the moment, I think we’re all expecting Risner to be back. Mims is absolutely set at RT and I wouldn’t want to move him off that position.
To me I’d be looking for someone to replace Orlando at LT in a year. Both the Utah OTs have experience at LT, and I’m convinced the defensive players we would most want will be gone, so my choice would be to take Fano or Lomu. I also like Monroe Freeling if he makes it to us in round 2, or World in round 3. World is athletic but disappointed at Oregon this year. A year with Peters coaching him could turn him into the guy people thought would go round 1.
If he were a sleeper pick and you could get him in the third or fourth round, it would certainly be worth considering. He is great, but we have so much to fix on the defensive side.
