  1. Sharing this video because it took the words out of my mouth.

Much is being made about Tocchet’s Michkov comments from the Carnival, but the bigger story should be about Jones having to admit the UFA plan is looking bust.

  2. Wait is the one guy hosting a sports talk show talking hockey and he didn’t know who Quinn Hughes was? This is just noise.

  3. I get that it’s not moving as fast as we want, but most of our first round picks have not even turned pro yet. Rebuilds are unpredictable, and theres honestly no telling how long or short they could be.

  4. This is 💯correct. We are in a really bad spot with no clear way out. Not good…

  5. Both can be true and I guess it boils down to what is more egregious. Poor drafting and asset management is bad but in my mind the head coach openly criticizing and bad mouthing the face of the franchise is worse.

I’m mad at both of those things, but one is making me a lot angrier than the other. An equivalent would be Patullo calling terrible plays and Sirianni shit talking AJ Brown while all of that is happening.

  6. I mean I’m nowhere near the fire briere mindset. He’s done a lot of good in his tenure and has far exceeded the last 3 flyers GMs. His biggest weaknesses imo has been drafting and willingness to sell. However I think he’s largely handled the rebuild the right way and has shown he can build assets and make good trades. Has set up money for our future with solid contracts (outside Dvo)

  7. This guy is half right. Yes its in purgatory but Quinn Hughes is not the right player to add to QB the PP. Buium would have been the better pick as he fits the current age. Quinn Hughes is in his prime. If the Flyers were one piece away sure then its a no brainer but MM is in year 2, Martone is not here yet. In orfer to obtain a player like Hughes you need the pieces to make that trade. VAN got two good young players in return for Hughes plus a pick and prospoct. Thats a big haul and the Flyers would need to do that twice. That means 4 young roster players + 2 prospects and two 1sts to get a #1C and D if they were available. Unless MM and PM are the young players you are not matching offers from other teams.

Answer should be simple. You suck for two years and add those pieces. Flyers are quite limited to what they can do to add a top C and D. Instead of just sucking and drafting them which is the most efficient method. We are hoping for a UFA which Jones just confirmed is not going to happen because they all re-sign and that leaves trading for a young player\reclamation project like Zegras and hoping you can develop or fix them.

This is why I say you gotta take the risk for Wright. Its no guarantee but theres literally not much out there. You have to take risks. If you are too afraid to take risks as an NHL GM, you simply will not be successful.

If the Flyers add a guy like Wright and draft a D with a top 10 pick the Flyers are in a much better position than they are now. You now have your potential top players

    MM-Wright-Martone

    Zegras-Luchanko-Konecny or Foerster-Zegras-Konecny

Foerster-Berglund-Brink OR Barkey-Berglund-Brink. Can also swap Berglund with Luchanko or Nesbitt

    ?-Dvorak\Cates-Grebenkin

    D Prospect – York

    Sanheim – Drysdale

    Andrae – Bonk

This team at least has some potential to it. Will it work out. Maybe, Maybe not but at least the team did something to try to get to the next level rather than waiting for something to fall in our lap.

  8. Bro doesn’t know who Quinn Hughes is? Yikes that’s such an indictment on their podcast. Why would anyone listen when they clearly have no idea what they’re talking about?

  9. Buium was probably the better pick at the time but people need to take a chill pill about passing on the next Bobby Orr multiple Norris winner.

Buium is producing points at Jamie Drysdale levels (yes look it up) and according to what I read here Drysdale is total trash.

If anything, we should be bitching about how we didn’t pick Lane Hutson (like every other team in the NHL).

  10. I feel like I’m on a different planet when I look at social media . People are off their rocker

  11. The pp quarterback was Zeev Buium.  We passed on him for no good reason.

  12. Where was all this outrage back in August? If you paid attention to the NHL, even a little you knew what you were getting. 9 years. 1 playoff appearance. Top players have declined everywhere this guy has gone to coach. And on top of that he is somehow paid as much as Jon Cooper. cut your losses now, get rid of the guy and hire a coach who is here to Develop talent.

  13. I feel like a lot of people just don’t know how long rebuilds take. Colorado’s rebuild started in 08-09 and they weren’t consistently good until 18-19. Edmonton’s rebuild started in 06-07 and weren’t consistently competitive until 21-22, Buffalo started to bottom out in 11-12 and is now just looking at the playoffs and whether that will be consistent.

They pull out of the rebuild with guys like Michkov, Martone, Zegras, Foerster, Drysdale, and York taking another step while guys like the Travii and Dvorak can still play a supporting role.

  14. Yeah management should be getting more flack than Tocchet.

Management is who put us in this position with their asinine rebuild strategy and bad drafting.

Even if Michkov and Martone become studs we still wouldnt have a franchise C or D to build around.

People need to putting way more pressure on the management.

  15. The only reason that it would be stuck in purgatory is the Dvorak signing. You can trade everyone else, because it doesn’t matter what you get back. Sure you’d like to get back fair value, but you’re gonna suck either way. The real idea is to simply start over. And that means getting rid of most of the core.
