New Orleans has to Chris Olave to a new contract. This dude finally hit 100 receptions and was able to stay healthy for nearly the entire season for the first time. Im assuming a contract extension is in the near future for him. Projected to be in the range from 100 million to 140 million range. This has to be priority 1B (after Cam Jordan 1A). You could say drafting a WR2 is up there with the organizations plans as well. But without a doubt, this guy has to be taken care of. I move that shouldnt be too hard to act. One hopes we are able to come-to-terms with Chris and his agent.
Current Status: Signed through the 2026 season via his rookie contract's fifth-year option.
2026 Financials: Olave carries a cap hit and base salary of approximately $15.49 million for the 2026 season.
Fantasy Impact: He is projected as a high WR1/Top 10 receiver for 2026 drafts, likely going in the second or third round.

I like Olave, he had a great season, and he’s got a great connection with Shough. He’s earned WR1 on the saints imo and we should pay him if his camp is willing to be paid a team friendly WR1 contract.
Theres a lot of young blood in our WR room, and it’s possible that overextending to keep Olave could be the wrong move if one of the guys in the WR room is ready to step up and be the guy. It’s a gamble either way but I’d prefer the option that allows us more cap space the year after.
That being said I don’t think there’s any world where we don’t resign him.
If he ask for WR1 money he can go ahead an hit the open market
I’m of the opinion that WR contracts are getting overly large. They suffer from to many situations beyond their control. Just look at Jefferson for a perfect example. Olave is a good receiver, not a great receiver. He’s also injury prone and drops passes. If he’s wanting top receiver money, he wants to much. I say something around top 10 or so would be fair for him.
I want him on the team next year but he shouldn’t be setting some new record for WR’s
