It always goes to the coach of the shit team that had the biggest turnaround. It’s not a big deal.
It’s an underdog award. Meaningless for the elite coaches. Just know our coach is held to a standard so high that it doesn’t matter how well he does and with any players. I’m thankful to call him the Niners coach

Kyle shanahan was absolutely ROBBED in 2022 a coach with a 9-7-1 record third in the division win coach of the year while he went 13-4 made it to the nfc championship game with a third string qb

Edit: Coen should have received it. He turned the jaguars from a multi decade long joke to a serious contender in his first year ever as a Head Coach

You can ignore COTY awards. Look at a few of the recent winners – Stefanski, Daboll, KOC. What have any of them done recently?
If it were actually the best coach of the season, you’d have the top 2-3 coaches rotating through the award. Andy Reid, Shanahan, McVay, etc.
Best not to let it bother you and just focus on what matters.

Steve Carrell never won an Emmy for the office nor Jason Alexander for Seinfeld 🤷♂️ subjective awards are subjective

Kinda similar to Jerry Sloan with the Utah Jazz. He was so good for so long that it was just expected and he never won Coach of the Year even though there were a handful of years that he worked wonders with terrible rosters. Let’s hope that’s where the Shanny / Sloan comparison ends bc Sloan never won a championship…
