Would you guys have preferred to see the Cardinals go this route or what they ended up doing with the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners?

  1. Obviously depends on what that return would have been. I’m not complaining about the return we got back from Seattle.

  2. There’s no way to answer that without an idea of what we could have gotten.

The Mariners have a much deeper farm system. The Astros only have one top 100 prospect and he’s a 2B that we don’t need.

So unless we were somehow getting Payton Tolle (which i highly doubt) out of this deal, I don’t think we would have done better in with the Astros and Red Sox than we did with the Mariners and Rays.

  3. I think we got a reasonable return for Donovan. Hard to see either of those two teams beating it.

  4. Someone reminded Chaim that there are other teams besides the Red Sox to trade with

  5. I think it’s good this didn’t happen, simply because of the fact that people would have complained about Chaim doing another deal with Boston and worrying that he thinks too highly of them/only will work with them

  6. I prefer whatever gets the team the highest return, as a fan I’ll never know what the other potential deal looked like.
