My favorite pick for us at 7: David Bailey. Just an elite pass rusher who gets to the quarterback so fast

We’d be very lucky to get him at 7, especially after that Miami (edit: Oregon*) game. I think he goes top 3
One trick pony, big potential to bust
This guy is gonna be the next Dante Fowler for this team. Get sacks, however be completely ass at the run where our run defense is gonna be completely ass like 2024.
Dude is horrible against the run. Pass. Give me Downs, Bain, Reese or Lemon.
That inside spin move looks like a ton of fun. Not sure how well it translates to the NFL though. Still we need somebody to come up and hit these QBs
Love the speed but if he doesn’t have a power move, I don’t want to spend a top 10 pick on him. That’s been a bust recipe too many times. At least half of these pressures wouldn’t work against an NFL tackle.
ETA: if he has coverage skills, I might reconsider. If he’s a guy who can pop out and blow up a screen play or neutralize a matchup problem with a TE or RB, I’m listening.
Can he stop the run?
I don’t watch much college ball. How is he against the run? An edge rusher is great but we don’t need another guy like Dante Fowler who’s going to play hero ball and sell out to rush the pass every play.
Ehhhhh feels like a stretch at 7. Gotta take the best player available. If Downs is available, you have to take him.
Along with the run defense concerns, we don’t need a crashout defensive end after this James Pearce Jr shit. Fighting a cameraman cause he took your picture after a loss and stomping on a players head are huge red flags for me
We need some heat.. it could be him or a 2 dudes that fit a scheme.
Wonder if he can play a little OLB in base packages when we’re expecting the run. He can actually drop back and cover a bit so it would be cool if he could contribute there in addition to being our best pass rusher on passing downs.
Man it really sucks we won those last couple of games…
We’d need slot to go right but I’d be stoked about, Reese, Downs, Bailey or Bain. Mendoza and Fano the only for sure ahead of us. If it’s those 6 to start the draft I cry. But watch us take Carnell Tate with one of those guys on the board.
God his first step is so quick. Looks like he’s timing the snap count the way he’s penetrating before anyone else is even moving.
He is #1 on my wishlist too but I’d say maybe 5% chance he’s still there.
Gonna need more power in his bull rush to get there at the pro level. I’m not impressed
Nah.
I like him. At 7 there should be an impact day 1 starter for us to pick whether it be Bailey, downs, Bain, love, Tate or Tyson. The biggest mistake we can make is trading back to far and missing on a potentially elite/impact guy and settling for a quality starter. We need blue chip talent. You can find quality starters in FA. Somehow AP pulled off the biggest heist since us loosing silverback by trading for Tunsil without spending a 1st rounder. Problem is he whiffed on Lattimore so now we don’t have the trade bait to trade for elite talent. So while we have a top 7 pick, we gotta shoot for elite no matter the position.
One of the early mocks has us taking. OSU WR Tate at 7, and in that one, Downs for sure is gone (NYGs @5), I think Bailey also, but Bain is still there – no way we go WR at 7 …right? Fwik, this draft is deep @WR, so I’d hope not given our needs.
I’m done with high edges. The last solid edges we drafted? Kerrigan at 16. Orakpo at 13 but his numbers are kind of lop sided. Trent Murphy at 47. Sweat at 26.
Edges seem to have a high bust rate (nothing to back this up data wise) and we need to get a home run here.
He so small
