How did Marques Colston rack up nearly 10,000 receiving yards and never make a Pro Bowl?

The Quiet Storm wasn’t flashy but always delivered when it mattered most!

I might be in the minority, but I love that he didn’t make a pro bowl. I’d rather be known as the best to never make one rather than a 1 timer. Also makes the quiet storm nickname that much more awesome.
He was quiet, pro bowl is a popularity contest for the most part.
Everything about him was class. He never got recognized in the league for whatever stupid reasons, but he’ll forever be our legend.
He’s my goat.
It’s because he was not a big name in a big name city
Bad luck combined with a quiet life outside of football, during probably the most prolific diva-era WR’s
His stats were never “eye popping” I suppose. He also played during a time that made it super hard to gain recognition as a receiver, being on a small market team def doesn’t help either:
Example, his best season is probably 2007 stat wise. In the same year the pro bowlers were Larry Fitzgerald, Donald Driver, Torry Holt and Terrell Owens. 2 hall of famers and 2 guys probably in the backlog for getting into the hall.
Thats just the nfc pro bowlers, this was also the year Randy Moss went for 23 tuddys, Chad Johnson was killing it, Reggie Wayne, etc. My point with this is there was a lot of hall of famers when Marques was playing, and unfortunately that meant guys like him constantly got overshadowed because on top of the hall of fame guys making the pro bowl- you got that backlog of payers like Colston as alternates.
It sucks. if Marques had the same career but drafted at the end of his career (2015), he’d probably have 3 or 4 pro bowls and maybe a all pro
A pro bowler in my heart
Because he’s the Quiet Storm 🤫
Probably a bit because Brees got a lot of the” qb that makes WRs good” credit
Also the other things people have mentioned
He wasn’t a diva
Quiet Storm wasn’t a popular name like some prestigious names at the time, but his production outshined many of those that made the popularity contest
Silent Killer
Which season would have been a pro bowl season for him in your opinion?
He was so cool
I heard another Saints player of the time refer to Colston as “Big Smooth”, and I’ve always preferred that to “Quiet Storm”
His is one of the very few jerseys I still own
He was such an underrated WR. Definitely one of my all time favorite saints.
Unrelated, saints uniforms looked so much better back then. I really hate how the full color socks or tights or whatever it is they wear look lol
Quiet consistency
He is my favorite player of all time.
I think it was because of Drew. Not 100 percent but 30 percent for sure.
Brees made every receiver on the Saints look good and he was so great that everyone else was overlooked. And when Colston, Moore, Henderson etc had a good game, it would be overshadowed by Brees throwing 300+ yards and 3 TDs while throwing to 6 different players.
Because if he got drafted anywhere else he woulda been just another guy, and he never really had some amazing season. Look at what MT13 did with old Brees to see a true number one wr.
I love Colston by the way. He just was never on that level.
People continue to say this but can’t point to a single year where he was actually snubbed. I liked colston a lot growing up, think I used to call him my favorite player, but yall be overrating the living fuck outta him. Sure, you’d think he woulda snuck into maybe one or two pro bowls, but if u actually look at his stats season by season, there’s not a single year except maybe 2007 that rlly sticks out as a surprise.
Str8 up, Colston is my fav Saints WR ever. The league hated on him hard. Dude was a bad ass AND humble! Stand up guy.
Yahoo had him listed as a TE his rookie year, I will always love him for that
