Our defense might just be that bad unfortunately
And people still think our defense isn’t the problem. Finland’s defense is awful and he’s doing better behind them
Saros has been destroyed in shots against within high danger placement this year. This is where his save% has been wrecked. He has faced 100+ more shots than any other goalie and over 30+ shots in the high danger spot than the next highest. The following 3 goalies who have played a ton this year have all been strong in the HD area…. And they are all 6’3-6’4 in size.
The thing keeping this team competitive is how strong Saros has been in the midrange. He is in the 99th percentile with a .923%. This is actually a great thing to have when playing teams that rely on mid range success this year like Colorado, Carolina, Florida.
We have not done a good enough job protecting between the dots as a team. We don’t have a d core built to do this for the playoffs. Teams like DAL, EDM, VGK for example.
