1. Just a stock, USA Pride™️ sort of response. Aaron Judge isn’t my harbinger of moral fortitude and political struggle. He’s just my current favorite Yankee.

3. The WBC has nothing to do with soldiers/veterans, and we can be proud of representing the U.S. beyond the context of glorifying soldiers and wars. This is a tired, canned response. But whatever. As he said, he just plays a kids’ game so he doesn’t know any better.

    Personally I’d prefer most athletes stay out of stuff like this anyway. They’re not the scholars we need giving opinions on anything. Most of them stopped learning anything relevant about the world in 9th grade.

12. I’m as anti-war as it gets and we can criticize almost every single military intervention past WWII and I would be right there with you. 

    That being said, it’s incredibly naive when people are seeing what’s happened in Eastern Europe and still refuse to understand why a powerful military is a necessary evil.

15. I’ll never understand the people that are desperate for celebrities, athletes especially, to make political statements. At least musicians are usually saying _something_ in their music. Aaron Judge is one of the greats, to be sure, but as he says in his response, he plays a game for a living. His political opinions and stances should carry about as much weight with anyone as your plumber, your accountant, or your doctor. I find it refreshing when people, famous ones especially, resist the ultracrepidarian impulse to weigh in on current events like they have some special perspective that everyone else needs to hear because they’re good at sports
