JUST What the Spurs NEEDED!?

The San Antonio Spurs have signed Mason Plumlee! This is a sneaky solid move for the Spurs. Plumlee brings veteran leadership, toughness, rebounding, and a true center presence to back up the young core. With a roster built around youth and upside, adding a proven big who can defend, pass, and set strong screens could be exactly what this team needs.

  1. Oh my was I rusty doing this on a time constraint! Thoughts on the signing? Is there someone else you would have preferred? Thanks for watching GO SPURS GO!

  2. We need to trade olynik, biyombo, waters for another shooting 6-10 rebounding foward no need for center redundancy draft morez johnson jr & braylon muller to replace branes,kj,vassel, in the future

  3. I had been hoping for a big "girthy" guy at PF or C. I'm guessing the Spurs have specific roles or matchups that they want to use him for, and it's always good to go into the playoffs with veterans on the team.

  4. Other guys we could have brought in (probably not as good as Plumlee though):

    Dario Saric (6'10, career 36% 3p shooter)

Tony Bradley (6'10, currently in the G League)

Isaac Jones (6'8, physical guy, wasn't getting playing time in Detroit)

  5. Did nothing to resolve the floor spacing issue. Would have preferred Chris Boucher tbh. Plumlee ain't a terrible center, but being better that Biyombo isn't much of a flex.

  6. Kornet, Wemby, Vassell, Fox, Castle | Plumlee, Johnson, CB, Champagnie, Harper | Olynyk, Biyombo, Barnes, Waters, McLaughlin … these three units can take us far … i really like the addition of a big. I think Wemby is too much of a roaming 5 for us to not have a true 5 anchoring. We dominate when Wemby if on the floor with another big.

  7. So you are saying no more Booway on a twoway? 😂

Can’t wait for the ATL to give us a shot at yet another amazing project player or even starter assuming we land in the top 3/4!
I have had my eye on BOOZER, OFC.. but also back up plan Yaxel Lendoberg. Trust me when I say BOTH of these two potential options are a PERFECT fit for the SAS. From on court to off court these guys ooze Silver and Black and sometimes Fiesta colors

  8. Plumlee is a bad defender so i dont get the point of this signing. In fact Biyombo is the better defender than Plumlee. If Plumlee is for insurance in case Wemby or Kornet get injuried he is not going to provide what the Spurs need and that is a defensive big.

  9. Called this awhile back.. 10 day contract and see how wemby and plumlee play together. I could see them starting together, kornet still playing with 2nd unit. That would leave wemby playing his 4 like he said he always wanted and plumlee grabbing them rebounds and an ok inside presence with wemby still helping out. Fox, castle, Julian because he plays better when starting because when he comes off the bench you can see his lack of playing because he's butt hurt and wemby, plumlee. At least try and see if they gel

  10. They only signed him to fill a roster spot but seeing how he can be utilized for 10 days is good spot to be in for the spurs, he adds more IQ and veteran leadership but he’s basically there to back up Luke that’s about it

  11. This relieves pressure on kornet and kj. There are so many options to use mason. He's a brusier and can hold his own against taller guys. Kj will be able to be able to go after the smaller guys now and this will help even more on his offensive push. We're set guy's

  12. He's got a very high vertical. He's going to add another pick and roll lob threat. He's also an enforcer that will come to Victor's aid when guys try to rough him up… Zach Collins like.

  13. TSR, its a good guy to try out! With our defense turning to a switching defense to maximize Wemby backup centers need to be Luke-like. Thats why the Sochan Center “experiment” was so bad, he is an amazing on ball defender, not a switch defender. Clearly Keldon and Wemby are doing awesome under this scheme… it makes sense not to switch up the plan based on personnel, Spurs need to double down on the plan and get really good at it as we go into the playoffs. I am all for a bruiser !

  14. I like this move. I think he’s an upgrade over Bismack Biyombo. Now, hopefully we can watch the waiver wire and try to pick up a vet shooter that wouldn’t be a liability on defense and waive Biyombo if needed to do it.
