Phillips has a right to his opinion like all of us do but the Phils and Braves have major injuries in their starting rotations and they dont have the depth that the Mets do. Our lineup could use 1 more quality hitter but it should be sufficent. It should at least be a fun year watching the progression of our young guys. LGM
And we have Juan Soto..
Anything anyone says who is not a player and who was not specifically talking about the play on the field…. I just ignore
The only thing I want to hear is, how is polanco looking at first in his early stages. How is Bo looking at third in his early stages. Is Scott looking like someone healthy at spring by those who are watching him pitch?
But a former Mets GM's opinion or take on why people are not participating in the middle of February…. Meh. Even if all he did was speak superlatives about my team, I'd still say meh. Call me when the game start.
Really when do we give a darn what Phillips thinks? Also, where did Alonsos 38 hrs get us?
Steves on drugs…thats the only excuse I would accept…
Don't forget Tauchman…
Phillies had the same core for like 6 yrs now…they ain't going nowhere…
The only way the Mets don't make the playoffs would be if they had a bunch of injuries. Assuming with decent health, they should win the division. The Phillies have had more drama than the Mets this offseason, lost two front line starters and are starting to get old. The Braves may already have a few starters down this season and I see them as improved, but not as good as they were two years ago.
Steven is an extremely under accomplished GM especially during his tenure as a met! He will take any slight of a chance of disrespect he gets at the Mets if it means getting a nice paycheck! Real loser mentality but so is the rest of the mlb network. A failed network if you ask me
I agree with Steve the dumbass! Let’s get em ready now but we need to start in November to get them warmed up like that instead of Feb so I propose spring training start in February! Gosh what a loser
I meant I propose we start in November. What a dummy
Honestly….I'm a Mets fan for 50 years and I always respected Steve Phillips. First of all…. he's entitled to his opinion. Opinions are truly like butt holes… everyone has one!! Secondly…. there's a reasonable argument that this team has lost power and continuity. I get it… they didn't win a championship with the core they had together for years. That's definitely not argumentative. However…. losing Pete's bat and Edwins arm is a concern. It's debatable whether the additions can pick up the slack. Personally…I agree with Steve that the Braves are dangerous. The Phillies… to me… have taken a step back. No Ranger Suarez and a banged up Zach Wheeler is not good for them. I actually hated everything the Mets did this off-season until they grabbed Bichette and Peralta. I'm now optimistic….skeptically…but I do believe this team could be good or bad. It's going to depend on lots of things. Does Vientos bounce back? Does Baty take another step forward? Is Devin Williams a solid substitute for Diaz? Can Polanco drive the baseball and play well at first base? Does Benge live up to the hype? Lots of questions and the answers come soon. LGM.
Steve is an ass! Obviously knows nothing no wonder he's not a GM anymore…..that's a GOOD thing!
There's a reason steve hasn't been a gm again and u just saw it.
Steve is full of Sh*t… he hates the Mets… waiting on him to get Fired just like every other job he has..he’s a bum😵💫🤣
I have to take anything these former GMs turned talking heads say with a grain of salt. There are reasons why Phillips, Jim Bowden, Jim Duquette, etc. were all fired from their positions and never rehired.
@MetCastPod
This 'power' word keeps getting used by people who don't understand baseball.
Only TWO TIMES in the last 40 YEARS has the team that led baseball in home runs won the World Series.
HOME RUNS DON'T WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!
“Outside of last year” dude was terrible and yes last years numbers matter. Devin Williams of Diaz was a terrible mive
This eteve guy is a clown 🤡
