I mean its hard to get roleplayers on a team when you keep wasting all your resources on stars and always make playoffs so you can’t get lottery picks either. But Lakers aren’t in as bad as a position as other teams at least. Not sure what the hell Golden state is going to do in 2 years.
Assuming the cut off for this is after the 2020-2021 season
2022-2023 Vando was good. Injuries just really stunted his growth. He spent so much time injured rather than playing/training.
2022-2023 D’Angelo was good. He just shit the bed in the playoffs that year. He was okay in 2023-2024.
Thomas Bryant played well enough to get traded for 3 SRPs from the Nuggets so he deserves thanks for that.
Reaves was a roleplayer for many of those years.
Schroder was good when he was on a smaller contract.
Goodwin was good for what he was and is still contributing on the Suns.
Taurean Prince was a good role-player, he was just massively overplayed and sometimes out of position.
thats the problem if your not homegroming your young player instead go after big fish always i hope lakers change thier tactics a bit if in front office like pointing more effort in developing the young players blend with veteran in the line up
They were fine until that awful Westbrook trade. I’m not sure what the hell they were thinking but they never recovered.
If they actually insist on going for giannis in the off season they are gonna be continuing this trend.
Caruso and KCP do they qualify?
i think we’re forgetting someone
2026 Offseason Top Target: Peyton Watson
2027 Offseason Top Target: Prodigal Son Returns, Cormac Karl “Maximus Decimus Meridius” Christie
Now show the ones we dumped for nothing and what they’ve done on new team
i mean hes kinda wrong
Could add Dennis th menace there too
B/C BOB PELINKA is and has been terrible at his job. He’s horrible at asset retention, talent identification and at not creating a new hole by plugging an already existing one.
Vando is low key underrated.
He is wrong most definitely. Malik Monk was fun but he was playing with no stakes. It’s hard to judge him against teams actually trying to win and with a shot. Dennis and DLo from the 2023 team outrank him.
Smart, Ayton, Laravia, and this season Hayes all outranks Monk. DFS was not that washed with us, just usual 30 something decline. Max Christie was developing, but you have to include the time it took to get there.
I could go on and on, but really this is just a dumb post.
It’s the nightlife in LA
Because they used their MLE on Nunn and Gabe. Their first round picks were JHS, Knecht, and Theiro. 4 of those guys had negative value and the other is an injured rookie. Wouldn’t it have been nice to give NAW $5m instead of Gabe $11m when they were both free agents? Obviously hindsight but that’s why Rob gets paid so much right?
Bad management + bad player development
We don’t keep our draft picks or drafted players. It’s fucking stupid and something the new regime should stop. Teams build through the draft now. Depth wins rings. Two superstars used to get you to the finals. Now they don’t even make the play ins. The game has evolved and we need to as well.
Its so bad that Luke Kennard is already top 5 role players of the last 5 years, and homies been here 2 weeks.

Reaves
You can thank our GM for that, Mr. Rob Pelinka
