“We're going to put him in the position to most be successful,” LaFleur said. “And so I think that's, foundationally, what has been really neat about the systems that I've been in. The system that [we] will run is who is the slot, who is the X receiver, they're all interchangeable…”

“You try to maximize however many plays — let's call it 65 to 70 plays a game — you try to make sure all 65 to 70 matter and those guys are in the right positions at the right time, so we'll move them around, just like we do all those guy, and again, have a better idea of that once we kind of get going into May. And then obviously through training camp to see where it's all going to fit,” LaFleur continued.

  1. If I had a nickel for every time MHJ was about to have a breakout season, I’d have two nickels

Three If we count his first season

  2. While I do trust Lafleur a lot more than Petzing when it comes to scheming MHJ to a breakout year, I’m still in the “I’ll believe it when I see it” category after seeing a similar headline 3 years in a row now.

  3. So long as it doesn’t come at the cost of the two who actually broke out. And I don’t mean a more balanced target share, that’s expected. No more shutting one or two out of a game entirely, defensive coverages allowing. No more entire halves of decoy duty. No more game plans that can fit on a fortune cookie’s fortune. And ESPECIALLY no more deliberately putting the ball in the hands of the Carter or Demercado in the moments that matter most. Use all three or trade one now. The goal should be to have all three on track for 1k yards, health allowing obviously, if they truly believe that MHJ is the guy.

  4. Do we believe LaFleur is gonna put Michael Wilson in the backburner after his end of season breakout in favor of MHJ? Or is this just coach speak regarding a hyped prospect that hasn’t panned out?

Honestly, and I hope I’m wrong about this, I think MHJ’s mental game isn’t quite where it needs to be and I think he may be better suited as a #2 reciever rather than the 1 where there’s a little less pressure on him.

  5. Inject this into my veins I am full of optimism and delusion I don’t give a shit. Mostly delusion of course.
