JACKPOT: New Orleans Saints Set For FINANCIAL FREEDOM After NFL’s Salary Cap, Free Agency SPENDERS
The NFL’s record-setting $301.2 million salary cap for 2026 puts the New Orleans Saints in the best financial shape since before the COVID cap dip, opening the door to make bold moves in NFL free agency. With a few key restructures, the Saints could clear enough space to target top talent and address crucial needs at left guard and edge rusher, creating an ideal scenario to build around rookie quarterback Tyler Shough and cornerstone stars like Chris Olave and Chase Young.
Names like David Edwards, Ed Ingram, and Isaac Seumalo headline potential upgrades in the trenches, while edge options such as K’Lavon Chaisson and Odafe Oweh could help transform the defensive front. Fresh cap flexibility, smart draft strategies, and high-impact free agents could spark New Orleans back into January contention.

Personally, the Saints should do these steps this offseason:
1. Trade Carr
2. Re-sign Hill, Jordan, and Davis to one-year deals
3. Extend Olave's contract that includes career-ending clauses due to his concussion history, so the Saints don't have to worry about any cap and financial burden in the future.
4. Trade Ruiz for a mid- to late-round pick.
5. Sign veteran WR, RB, OT, OG, TE, Edge, CB, LB, and punter
6. Keep Rattler because I believe it'll be hard to try to find a veteran backup due to so many QB-needy teams this offseason.
7. Draft needs: RB, WR, TE, OG, OT, punter, Edge, LB, NT, CB
8. Undrafted needs: QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, Edge, S, DT, LB, K

I would like to see Ross join up with Underhill and Triplett. A true super team.
A big spending spree in FA is what we shouldn’t do.
We are not out of Mickeys cap mess yet, lets not get deep into it again!
Ross sending me to bed with a smile on my face.
I'm seeing the saints tanking the first half of the season again, in attempts to get another top ten pick next year.
