  1. They dont have the draft capital to trade for anyone decent. You have to bring in a retread after you cut bait with kirko.

  2. Taking on Tua’s contract can’t possibly be a better option than paying a second round pick for Bagent.

Even if Bagents a disaster, the worst can happen is paying his 10 million contract and using a higher pick next year to replace him.

Edit : I didn’t make that up. It was reported that if they want to move Bagent. It would take a second.

  3. It really just depends on what the cost is and what the compensation they get on top of taking Tua is.

Contract aside, this actually would kind of make sense in a vacuum. The fact that both Tua and Penix are left-handed is kind of a big deal. Their OL continuity and scheme would not be affected by a switch.

  4. Wouldn’t it be more likely the Falcons don’t take on the contract, get him cheap, and have someone fill in while Penix heals? I think Tua doesn’t have anything left, but it’s not a bad strategy.

  5. Having Tua + Penix (both left-handed QBs) is a smart decision that could benefit both players long term.

Having the entire team/playbook/practice structured around a lefty QB, rather than being prepared for both could be a huge plus.

  6. If he was going to tank, why doesn’t he just sign the tank commander Justin Fields?

  7. Because the head coach of a different team said a personnel move between two other teams *might* happen?

  8. Tua needs to retire, man. A Tua brain scan would be scary to look at – I’m sure.

  9. I don’t hate it. Atlanta is pretty much in win now mode. May as well roll the dice here and see what happens. You can try and develop Penix in the background but I don’t think they feel he’s the guy. So you just see if Tua has what it takes to lead a talented offense and then take it from there.

  10. I think the best thing for Tua would be to retire from the NFL and start training for Flag Football in the Olympics in 2028. The last thing this guy needs is yet another concussion that could potentially end his career or worse.

  11. For an extremely low salary this is perfectly fine. He will be able to distribute the ball. They’re not gonna hand him 30,40,50 per year

  12. Bringing in a lefty to compete/back up penix is a great idea. That way you don’t have to switch up your playbook for the back up.

  13. For a second I thought he must’ve acquired Super Bowl champion Velus Jones.

  14. I am not looking forward to the inevitable Duerson or Seau-type news about Tua.

he needs to pack it in and take care of himself

  15. Ian wouldnt be person thats gonna make the decision. Matt Ryan is going to be making decisions which us why nfl atm isnt awarding bears tge 2 3rd round picks

  16. Would probably be a Russ Wilson in Pittsburgh situation where the Falcons are basically paying him nothing to be on their roster if anything.
