Interesting piece of information that was discussed around ~6:40 into the segment on Canucks Talk.

  1. I wonder if any if them understood the meaning of the song. The song agrees with the boo-ers.

  2. Quit Hughes was running “his” locker room like a MAGA rally… what’s next in Minnesota… YMCA?

  3. It’s becoming increasingly unsurprising that this locker room has had the issues it did over the Hughes core’s tenure. American players leading the locker room of a Canadian team with a significant European presence, apparently espousing an us vs. them mentality and pushing a pro-America attitude is bound to create friction. Combine that with Quinn’s limp wristed ‘leadership’ failing to control conflicts and things snowball out of control.

The Foote comment about the team being able to handle issues internally now, and the Willander comment about the vibes in the locker room being better are *very* telling.

I’m not saying that we need to avoid American players altogether moving forward, but I think we’ll be a lot better off with the leadership of the team being mostly Canadian and European. Obviously having a couple of vocal Americans isn’t a problem, but if they’re getting into patriotic circlejerks post-game… it is.

  4. It’s funny to me that both Born in the USA as well as American Woman, both pretty firmly anti-American songs are routinely used as patriotic tunes by Americans who I guess don’t really get what the songs are actually about
