  1. I’m a Hab guy, love the makeup of their ā€˜core’ stars that are about to hit their primes. However, the goalie equation, no Dobson, no second line centre….It’s a lot to overcome. I gotta say Tampa in 7.

Next year is when the Habs truly arrive IMO.

  2. These guys don’t know what they are talking about. I watch every habs game. Phil Danault has been contributing offensively since he came over? He has 12 points in like 45 since coming over.

Matheson and Hutson taking shots from the point to score from distance? Matheson gets more shots blocked than anyone I’ve ever seen and Lane Hutson never shoots the puck.

I hate when people have an opinion when they clearly don’t watch the games. I never comment on anything but this is silly

  3. Habs defense is weak. Only at the end of the season did we see them give less than 3 goals per match enough times to raise the expectation but the reality of it was that only Dobes really improved. Imho the outcome will rest very much on his shoulders, lets hope he ll do a Halak of himself. I still say habs in 6.

  4. Tampa is good but think many are overrating their forwards. They don't have guys like Stamkos, Richards, LeCavalier nor St.Louis anymore. Kucharov and Caufield even out. This series comes down to how Suzuki, Slaf and Demigod perform vs Vasy.

  5. Habs match skill, they don’t match pedigree and the level of bastard and physicality the bolts bring.

Wilson single handedly bullied them last year. What do you think is gonna happen when Tampa wants their blood 😭

  6. It’s pretty much cliched now, but in this case it is true. The series comes down to goaltending. Both have huge question marks in net and whichever netminder can overcome them, wins the series.
My faith is in Ullmark to actually pull through. Sens in 6.

  7. Honestly I think it’ll come down to an overtime in game 7. To be honest either one could take it, it’s going to be an incredibly close series.

  8. Always appreciate the thoughtful insights from sdpn, and appreciate the belief in the Habs and what they are cooking. This team will be very dangerous very soon, and they start knocking on the door this year…. I believe Habs in 6 over Tampa, and they get to the Conference Finals, before losing in 7 in a heartbreaker. Will be solid progress, with better things in upcoming seasons! šŸ™‚

  9. Without Dobson, they don't have a chance. Also, down the middle, they get heavily outmatched. Ciralli , Paul, Gourde vs Newhook, Kapanen, Danault. Not even close.

  10. You know what's weird is being a neurodivergent person whose interests often are influenced by the people I love. My eldest son is a leaf's fan. I'm a lifelong habs fan. The Habs used to billet with my grandparents in Nova Scotia when they had training camp there back in the eons ago. My last name is Simard, for god sakes.

And yet, because I am neurodivergence and because my son is one of my special interests, I now find myself with a great deal of admiration for the Leafs. I am the moon to his sun.

But I agree with some of the other habs fans in here, it is really lovely to hear you all speak warmly of them. It's weird, and I'm okay with it.

  11. Montreal actually has more depth in offense and that wasn’t something I expected to be saying as a Habs fan. We’ve got people like Kapanen, Evans, Gallagher playing 3rd/4rth line with clutch scoring potential.

If the habs can manage penalties and powerplays well then we will win. When we played our last season game against Tampa we wasted every PP they gave us and then got scored on the few PPs they had. If that’s the trend we will lose the series.

  12. As a Bolts fan, I'd prefer that Hedman doesnt return. I think Cooper ends up going 11/7 just to keep Hedman placated but ease him in, and use him symbolically. Moser and Raddysh are top pair, McDonough and Cernak 2nd pair, D'Astous and one of Hedman/Lileberg are 3rd pair. At this point, Hedman is a liability, especially given how much time he's missed, and no recent play.

  13. Literally everything they said about Hedman other than that he's a legend is incorrect.

He's not even skating with the team yet, and he has not been good at all this year. TB's top pair is Moser-Raddysh, even when Hedman's playing.

  14. Only thing I'm lokoing forward to in this series, is Arber putting his hands on Perry.

Besides that, Tampa should have the edge, but ONLY because of Vasilevsky. Habs match them throughout the roster, just not in net.

  15. If Tampa plays THEIR game, and don't begin to just try to be tough for the sake of it, I have them winning this series (and I'm a Habs fan). But if they play frustrated, trying to act all mighty, like the last two games against the Habs, they'll lose. It's Tampa's series to lose, honestly. Habs just need to stick to their gameplan, and make them pay for their mistakes.

  16. you guys are misinformed. Hedman is not confirmed back for game 1, and he is also not elite anymore lol. this is coming from a lightning fan too

  17. I think if Mtl wins it will be on Dobes's performance. With Hedman out and Dobson, it's kind of a wash, and for the offense, I would give the edge to TB because of their center line, so it will fall on the goaltending, and if you get the late-season Dobes, TB might be in trouble.

  18. We talking about two teams that have the same point in season.
1 team is topped out in term of progression (TB can only go down from here)
1 team is nowhere near full potential (CH can only go up)

  19. Iv seen 20 picks, 18/20 have picked the Canadians, why is everyone acting so damn surprised when someone takes THE Canadians LMAO, there’s a huge narrative going around that if u pick Montreal your special, your quite literally the opposite.
