  1. The thing with trading out of the 1st round is who is the player people are jumping up from early 2nd to 22nd to pick? Ty Simpson? Anybody else that would have "fallen" in the draft is likely someone worth using the pick on in that case and I don't see people clamoring to get any of the guys outside of the top 15 prospects this year. I'm all for trading back just have to remember it takes 2 to tango. Basically 1st round is looking like the year we drafted Zion. Stranded in no mans land where the good guard prospect will be gone by pick 55, but pick 22 seems steep for a guys like Pregnon, Bisontis, or Rutledge.

  2. Best case: the GMs of Baltimore, Tampa, Detroit, Chicago, and Pittsburgh party hard the night before and forget about Ioane. Worst case: Triple runs on EDGE (>5), OG (>2), and WR (>3) and no trade down partners forcing a BPA pick

  3. I get myself riled up about the lack of moves but Hortiz really does have a calming way of explaining his reasoning. I trust the process, they know the Super Bowl window is open and will act accordingly.

  4. If we could get OT Proctor from Alabama at 22in first, move up in the second and get DT Macdonald from Ohio State, and Lew the center from Auburn in 3rd I would be real happy.I for one think Kennard will be a factor this year and we still got Tuli ,Mack and Bud.If were getting that pressure up the gut with Tart,Caldwell, and Macdonald we will be fine.Wouldnt mind blitzing a little more anyways this year.We were way to conservative defensively on critical 3rd downs last year.

  5. I just did my final mock with grades on the simulator…
    22 Keldric Faulk EDGE | Auburn A+
    55 Chase Bisontis IOL | Texas A&M A+
86 Keionte Scott CB | Miami (FL) A+
    123 Sam Roush TE | Stanford A
204 Nick Barrett DL | South Carolina A+

  6. Great point about positional value. With that being said Will Anderson just signed for 50m's a year at Edge. I think that position becomes MORE of a priority in the first round after what was said in yesterday's presser.

  7. If the Penn State guard is that clean and a sure thing you move up three slots like Chris said and get him. All this extra picks and value you mention Matt is fine except that none of those other players are more than a coin flip if they can even start this year.

  8. I wish people would stop talking about us getting Vega! A player that's that Great is no way going to drop down to us!! He's in the top 10 I believe in the draft. I know if I was a GM and even if we didn't even need a OG this draft I'd take him! Chances are he's way better than what they've got. I hope we get an Edge @22 if Joe can't find anyone to trade down with. I think it's going to be a little hard to find anyone to trade down with anyways. Maybe like Matt said a couple days ago. Trade down with the Cardinals and pick up maybe 3 picks total with them. My bottom line is if we don't pick an Edge and a OG in the 1st say 3 picks, Joe's done a TERRIBLE job, PERIOD!!

  9. Best case scenario would be cardinals jumping to 22 for Ty Simpson and bisontis falls to us with that pick. Some of us 10000000% understand the Hortiz philosophy…. The disagreement is he is risking sacrificing this next season for his future comp picks/cap. There’s a window open and it’s shrinking. His answer about using the FA for specific strategic targets was a load of bullshit. If IOL wasn’t a specified target to push this team over the hump than nothing will be in the future. There’s no urgency. We don’t want uncalculated spending, we don’t want splash plays, we want accountability for neglecting a position group for two seasons straight, we want real effort to correct errors. We aren’t stupid and we are sick of being treated as such. The fan base isn’t freaking out of a lack of splash plays we are freaking out over the philosophy itself, it’s negligible at this point. It’s bargain shopping and praying the coaches cover his tracks and the roster shows…..good but not good enough and unwilling to take calculated risks to elevate.
