Why is Andrew Berry hyping up Jeremiyah Love so much in the pre-draft process? | Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns appear well-positioned at running back, with Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson set to enter their second seasons in the system.

But if Jeremiyah Love is still available when Cleveland is on the clock, it could force a difficult decision.

Widely viewed as the top running back in the class, Love may not even make it to No. 6 overall. He brings elite 4.36 speed, natural receiving ability, and the kind of home-run playmaking this offense has been missing. For a unit still searching for consistent weapons, passing on that kind of upside won’t be easy. “He’s special,” Browns general manager Andrew Berry said. “If you look at some of the dual-threat backs the league has seen, Christian McCaffrey is probably the standard, and Jahmyr Gibbs represents the next wave. Jeremiyah has a lot of those same traits — he’s a very dynamic prospect. | https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/cleveland-browns/fuel-jeremiyah-love-buzz-nfl-draft/

  1. The whole panel yesterday nailed it… Berry has acquired ZERO blue chip elite players over his 7 years as the GM. he is a joke of a GM.

  2. This presser as just more proof that the Browns fired the wrong guy. He downplayed the need at receiver and pointed to OBJ, Cooper and Jeudy to say they had quality WR rooms every year he was here. It was shockingly laughable and showed how he is incapable of assessing current talent in the room and identifying proper draft needs – remember, he hasn't drafted a single "blue chip" player (It's too early to call Fanin, Schwesinger or Graham blue chips, but even still, one draft out of 6 is a lousy batting average).

There have been 5 quality WRs available for trade: Waddle to Broncos for #30 pick, 3rd & 4th; Moore to Bills for 2nd round pick; Pittman to Steelers for pick #214; Wicks to Eagles for 5th & 6th round picks; and Meyers to Jags for 4th & 6th round picks. ANY of these deals were absolutely doable for the Browns and Berry didn't recognize the value or wasn 't competent enough to get the deal done. If they had ANY of these receivers, they could focus on a legit blue chip prospect (like Styles or Downs) to improve the team and taken the best available Tackle with their next pick. Berry sucks at his job.

  3. The reason best player falls apart is the data that WR and o line are hard to get in free agency. It means if you aren’t picking talent in draft then you just won’t have it on your team. So to jut pick best defenders over and over because defensive players are coming out more ready doesnt help you when yiu need a balanced team to win. You dont win games because of having most all pro. Who cares how many all pros denzel and myles and delpitt get if the team isnt balanced it wont win. And these so called players can also be busts i dont think sonny styles has blue chip potential more than mason graham had coming out and how much did he contribute this year compared to the wr tet macmillan did to his team?
