And some asshat at the game had the audacity to make a sign to call for his trade.
I was told that Saros is basically ass and overpaid.
This guy is overpaid and we should trade him /s
Which support what I’ve been saying…. Our D is the problem
And somehow they still blame him and not the D core in front of him? Don’t get wrong it was def a don year for him but he carried this team on his back to playoff mention w a less than desirable D core. New GM wants to shake things up he may want to look at adjusting d core.
as a saros diehard 💅🏽 this man is on another level
Well, it’s amazing in a way, but also extremely depressing.
Our defense was ass cheeks so yea I bet this is accurate.
Which means we gave up a s-ton of shots! No D.
Three years ago 1519 would not have made the top 10. Saros still led the league with 1900+ saves, but with significantly better SV% and GAA.
What this stat *actually* shows is the league is going away from workhorse goalies.
Look, I love Juice, but his analytics were ATROCIOUS this year. He finished close to last in a lot of major categories. His GSAx (-9.3) among goalies that played at least 30 games was 42nd out of 51. Compare that to Annunen, who would have been 11th (28 starts, +8.3). That disparity shows a clear story, especially when the lineup in front of these guys doesn’t change much day to day.
These sort of “counting” stats only really means that he played a lot, which makes sense because only Karel Vejmelka played more games than him. But hey, availability is the best ability.
Sorry Juice. You’re still my second favorite Pred.
(GSAx = Goals Saved Above Expected, generally considered the best goalie metric that is (largely) independent of the defense in front of them)
Edit: used the wrong rankings and games started
Top 3 in shots faced is, for some reason, not correlated at all, the top 3 in games played.
28 shots against per game. Not insane.
*our defense allowed north of 1500 shots on goal in 80 games.
Two things can be true. Our defense is terrible, but Saros also was not playing up to his standards. Also, Annunnen led the league in high danger goals against despite limited playing time.
Wow, our defense sucks.
Say it with me: “You can’t leave your goalie out to dry every big by and expect to win.”
