Accidentally deleted the OG post and can’t restore it. So here’s a new post with Maason Smith’s name correctly spelled

  1. Ruke underachieved for us in Atlanta after we traded up for him. He can improve I just think we wanted more size on the d-line because we have like 5 guys with ruke’s body type and he was outplayed by all of them. Wish yall luck

  2. Maason Smith is a pure Baalke style pick, all-world potential but also never actually productive. Looks great coming off the bus, can make one wow play every now and then but can’t trust him to do the basics of his job down in and down out.

  3. Any Falcon’s fans give us a run down on Ruke? 2nd round pick and was more productive than Maason so far in the stats sheets is all I know

  4. Bust for bust. Feels like the Fortner trade last year. Not bad to churn out bottom of the roster guys for guys who are better scheme fits.

Orhorhoro had a 37.3 PFF grade last year. 132/134 qualified players. Probably going to do nothing but Smith wasn’t either so eh.

  5. Literally anything in return for Maason is a win in my books, he was awful to watch #BaalkeDisasterclass

  6. Just watched his 2025 highlights and I’m not mad. He seems to be pretty athletic for his size, so I’m hopeful that this means we’ll see more exotic looks from the DL and Camp is cooking up some fun stunts.

  7. I liked Ruke at Clemson. He definitely hasn’t lived up to what the Falcons expected but big upgrade over Maason Smith.

  8. I’m just happy Orhorhoro and To’oto’o will be said during the same game at least twice a year.

  9. I don’t get it. I’ll swap you my underachieving overdraft for your underachieving overdraft. Changes of scenery? Better scheme fits? Just why TF not?

  10. Ruke has been bad but I like the swing. Ruke’s potential as a pass rusher is higher than Maason’s. Worst case scenario this feels like a wash. I think it’s important to note that the 2024 Rams invested heavily in their DL including trading up for Braden Fiske a few spots after Ruke was drafted. I wouldn’t be surprised if James did extensive work on Ruke that year and still believes in his pre-draft evaluation over what we’ve seen from Ruke in the pros.

  11. Atlanta: “We don’t want our draft trash, can we have your draft trash?”

    Jacksonville: “OK.”

  12. Baalke special. Picking a defensive player on one of the worst defenses in college in the second round and then him never playing

  13. Lmaooooo holy fleece I love having a gm who can get players we need while getting rid of players we don’t need

  14. Is Frangie really getting the pronunciation on the last name right? run-ROH-RUH-roh? I mean, holy shit.

  15. My understanding is that RO’s role was weirdly as a 1T in Atlanta but he’s more suitable to a fulltime 3T role that places him next to a clogger and have more 1v1’s where his pass rusher metrics shine more.

This probably eliminates the need for DT off the bat unless Gladstone wants to double down with a Caleb banks or other high tier DT that falls into the second.

Feel like we are maneuvering towards Edge #3 (Malachi Lawrence/R Mason Thomas) or a Gennings Dunker RG/RT versatile offensive lineman in the second otherwise

  16. I remember when Scherff came in and he was saying that Maason was a dawg and was going to have a bright future in the league just from going against him in camp. Been waiting for the breakout a long time. Hopefully the change of scenery works out good for both sides.

  17. I had such high hopes for Smith. Hopefully he can find himself a good home with the Falcons.

  18. This seems to be a very side grade trade… Sad that Maason could never get going here, but also he was one of those Baalke reach picks, and those usually don’t pan out.
