If we miss on AJ and Peterson, this guy is the pick.
He just looks so much more like an NBA athlete to me than Boozer. Not gonna be shocked if he ends up in the top 3
He’s insanely athletic. Makes dropping to 4 still very palatable. Just praying we don’t drop out of a pick this year
Y’all remember that playoff game when Evan Mobley sat at the top of a 3-2 zone and single-handedly shut down the Pacers like he was prime KG. That’s the defensive potential and flexibility this kid has.
IMO we need a true defensive anchor like this to offset Hali’s sub-par defense. He can start as the bench 5 until he becomes more skilled and learns the offense.
If we are at 3 Caleb is a great choice. Dude coming off injury may be a lot more receptive to being behind spicy P. That said, man Peterson would look amazing beside Hali. Dude goes to the rack like a taller Westbrook, and shoots off the dribble and spot up like Booker and is arguably the best on and off ball defender of the top picks. He is the definition of trust the eye test and not the narrative, dude will be a star.
I honestly think he fits way better in our system than Boozer ever could. Don’t get me wrong, Boozer could make a massive difference for a bottom third team in the league. We don’t need a stabilizing, high basketball IQ type player. We have plenty of them. Wilson not only could be a wildcard in our offense when teams are already going to have a hard time crafting their defense against us but he could also very much be Siakam’s heir because he reminds me a lot of him, just with a higher motor. I’d honestly be fine if we got the number one pick and took Wilson with it 🤷🏻♂️
My order still is Wilson as 4th, but I wont be overly sad if its 4th vs 1st. Just not losing the pick would be the win.
Going to get some hate, but I have Boozer as 2nd.
I really like Wilson a lot too!!!He would do great with us..I have AJ #1 but I have Caleb #2
If he’s anywhere near kg, we take him when available.
I might take him first considering our roster
Trying not to get too excited about these guys until May 10th
I’d love to see the Pacers draft him, but he scares me like the Colts picking Anthony Richardson. It’s hard to not be in awe of the potential, but it’s going to take patience and commitment to get him there. Again, the upside is huge though.
I’m refusing to get my hopes up until we have locked in pick after the lottery 🤞🤞
I talked about this briefly in the pinned thread but some random reports came out that some nba executives are placing him 3rd above boozer on their boards.
Dunno if that’s actually real or just random fluff but it’s something to keep in mind maybe.
Honestly I think the top 3 is fairly set in stone with AJ, DP, and Boozer, with Caleb being closer to three than he is to 5.
I like Caleb a lot but his outside shot is a big question and that’s a big reason why I think he’s not pressing into the top 3 as much as he could be.
Defensively is awesome he’s obviously great.
I’m going to be excited for the combine and also who the pacers invite for training camps and such (assuming we get the pick obviously)
It’s impossible for me to watch Caleb Wilson’s game and not see Jermaine O’Neal
He seems very athletic. Let me just check his 3pt stats and…oh dear.
He’s the whole reason I’m just as excited if we get 3rd or 4th. I think he is a FREAK that fits into our tempo system as a 4/5 perfectly and with Jenny the shot doctor on staff I think the jumper can come along
As a Heels/Pacers fan I’ve been dreaming about this since November. I’m instantly copping his jersey if he’s a Pacer.
I was all in on him too until he broke two bones in the same month. Now i wonder if he’s made of glass.
He looks like a project. I really hope we don’t take him.
Would be my third choice behind AJ and Peterson
I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t measure with a +6″ wingspan..some of those dunks just shouldn’t have happened.
Would not be opposed at all
Yes, he’s uber-athletic, but he was extremely productive, too. His per-36 stats (23/11/3/3+ stocks) aren’t all that far behind Boozer’s. He also did it without growing up with a multimillionaire All-NBA father and all of the learning/training privileges that surely comes with (did those privileges ‘front-load’ Boozer’s development a little bit?).
Is Cam better now? Yeah, probably.
Does Caleb have the higher upside? Yeah, probably.
Ultimately, it depends on how safe a GM wants to play it. I think most would prefer to shoot for the stars and go with Caleb, who makes Cam, skilled as he is, look like a glacier. The Pacers and their win-now mode are one of the teams I think might lean towards ready-made Cam.
