I thought for sure Jaiquwan Jarrett was going to be a stud at safety. I’m also a Temple fan and watched him closely and loved the way he played, so I was biased.

  1. I definitely got caught up in the Jalen Reagor makes more sense narrative. Tho, I realized very quickly I (and DEFINITELY Howie) fucked up lol

  2. Eric Rowe. I thought he was going to be the next Richard Sherman. Way off on that one.

  3. Derek Barnett just couldn’t put the pieces together

Reaghor and Agholor never looked good to me

  4. I thought JJ Arcega Whiteside was going to be an unstoppable red zone menace

  5. Love JJ, but you could always tell he was on the slower side at safety. He was always super nice to me, so I was sad he didn’t work out for the Eagles. I was so hyped when he got drafted.

  6. Earl? Wolff. Sweet name, my favorite animal, and his YouTube highlight tape had me thinking we had an heir to the Dawkins throne.

  7. Earl Wolff, just cause of the name. Man, so many safety whiffs after Dawk.

And, since I’m old as fuck, Nasty Nate. TATERs for life.

  8. I thought Sidney Jones was gonna recover from his achillies fine and would STILL be our CB1 today. Thats how confident I was in that “steal”

  9. In the “steals from a big school” category:
Jaylen Watkins, Brandon Boykin, Bryce Brown

In the ‘we know something other teams don’t” category:
    Ryan Moats, Chris Gocong

  10. Sydney Brown.

Wanted him to be a Troy Polamalu on steroids. Was so fast, hit like a damn bunker buster…but, yeah.

  11. Billy McMullen. 10.5 inch hand span and our starting receivers couldn’t catch.

  12. Because of madden and my age at the time. I thought Cornelius Ingram was going to be an absolute stud and steal.

  13. He’s turned out to have a pretty decent career, but I thought Rasul Douglas would be a serious longtime contributor on the team

  14. John Hightower had back to back games with one reception for over 50 yards, i was sure he was gonna sneak up on everyone as a nasty deep threat WR3 but he was off the roster in under a year

  15. Deeper cut, but Ryan Moats. I lived in North Louisiana at the time he was at LA Tech. He was absolutely electrifying. People were comparing him to Barry Sanders, and while I would never compare anyone to Sanders, the side by side video comparisons were similar. When we took him in the 3rd, I thought it was a steal. Didn’t quite work out that way.

  16. This award really should be called the Mike Mamula Memorial Trophy so I’ll go with Mamula.

More recently, Danny Watkins. His dad was literally a road grader. But he just wanted to be a fireman. As far as first round picks go this was really something.

Even more recently, Carson Wentz. He was the 2nd overall pick! He was here for 5 years and Clowney accelerated his decline so maybe this is unfair of me.

  17. The original exciting white: Sean Considine.

Man’s went from replacing Michael Lewis to losing his job due to injury to somehow winning an SB ring with the Ravens in his final year in the league.

  18. Jordan Matthews. I feel like his being a distant cousin with Jerry Rice might have swayed me a little, lol.

  19. So many for me. So many. Especially defensive backs & WRs.

Donnell Pumphrey was supposed to be the next Sproles.

    Sydney Jones was a steal.

Josh Huff was perfect for Chip Kelly’s offense.

Kelee Ringo & Sydney Brown were gonna lock down one side of our defensive backfield for a decade.

Grant Calcaterra was going to be Goederts replacement.

Zech McPherson looked like the best CB in camp.

Quez Watkins is gonna be what we wanted Josh Huff to be.

JJAW was going to be the next Julio Jones. 16 receptions, 290 yards, 1 TD in his entire career. Jones did that in 2 games.

JaCorey Shepherd was gonna be elite.

Matt Barkley was gonna be the QB of the future.

Mychal Kendricks would be a HOF linebacker.

Casey Matthew’s brother Clay was elite, so will Casey be.

Nate Allen would replace Brian Dawkins.

Mike Kafka was going to be the QB of the future.

Kevin Kolb was going to be the QB of the future.

Todd Pinkston & Freddie Mitchell would be the best 1/2 WR combo of Eagles all time.

I feel like there’s been so many WRs, so many DBs, and so many QBs that never panned out. One year we drafted safeties back to back and they both sucked. There’s been so many CB attempts. The late round RBs have like one good game, then terrible careers.

  20. Tony Hunt was a guy I was pretty pumped we drafted. Already mentioned but Sydney Jones I thought would pay off nicely
