BIG TIME TIMMY JIM
Literally know the whole sequence of those plays 🥹
That entire sequence is fucking top-tier. KL’s strip of Westbrook would be #1 on the defensive highlights of 99% of every player living, and then Tim’s *perfect* timing on that post move is chef’s kiss immaculate – look at how he forces the defenders around him into off positions and then pivots right into the open space he creates. And that’s not even mentioning Manu quarterbacking that play – literally pointing TD and KL into position, forcing the defense to switch, then placing a perfect lob where ONLY Tim could snag it. That is fucking perfection on the block.
Timmy put that ball in through sheer force of will. God damn those were the days
Remember watching that live. I yelled so hard after Duncan hit the game winning shot. Doesn’t feel like it was 12 years ago.
What a stud
Great team
Old. Man. Riverwalk!
Like it was yesterday….
This was still proof that Tim could take over a game even at the tail end of his career
Westbrook buzzing around Timmy with absolutely zero effect
Tim down on the court gettin a hug in the third second
One of the reasons he earned the name The Klaw
I remember being shocked that Timmy didn’t go window on that shot.
Damn. One of the best sequence I’ve watched from Kawhi. Thought he was gonna be a spur for life
“We have 4 games to go. We’ll get it done this time”
– Tim Duncan in the post game.
I remember being absolutely terrified by manu’s pass.
I remember this play vividly. I feel so bad for Reggie Jackson. He tried so hard to fight with Timmy for position, fronting him and then held his hand straight-up aggressively without fouling. But once Duncan caught the ball there’s nothing he can do. It’s just a practice shot to Timmy.
It must be brutal to watch as an OKC fan at that point. It isn’t a split-second powerful first-step or a quick pull up. Duncan did it slowly and methodically. You just knew what’s coming. Post-up is especially brutal in this way.
That ROLL
This is *THE* play that comes to mind whenever I use “Old Man Riverwalk.” Tim Duncan was such an amazing playoff riser.
Then Timmy with the postgame interview had one of the coldest lines ever… “we’ve got 4 more to win and we’ll do it this time.” 😤
This was the team that got me hooked on the league. I was never into basketball, but when I moved for university in Toronto, my department had a fantasy league spot vacant. I went in as a seabiscuit/wildcard/rafi contender. But over the year, while default cheering for the raps I secretly loved these Spurs. They played like Brazil did in 1970, like how Eric Koston skated in person, like how Bill Evans and Scott LaFaro played jazz. It was art. A dance. Not something that you *express* yourself through but is in itself expressive, and elusive to harness or describe.
Spurs culture is an anomaly, even beyond the nba.
Can you repeat that?
Oh man this game. We were having a wedding shower downtown at the esquire and we got that place rocking so hard for the end of this game. After it ended me and a buddy were so hyped we ran back to my apartment for the after party instead of waiting for an uber, we were living on east evergreen by the hospital so it wasn’t that far lol. My wife very confused by that one lol. Ahhh memories!
Like him or not but this nephew really did wonders during our 2014 run. Too bad be just messed it all up in during his time here.
Old Man Riverwalk 😂😂
You could tell 2013 was still burning in their minds, even if it was subconsciously. These cats weren’t going to let a repeat of that happen.
This 2014 Spurs squad was ridiculous. Crazy that it’s been 12 years already
