  1. them chanting fuck trae young lowkey disrespectful af. the fans don’t even acknowledge anybody on the team

  2. The story of every Hawks Knicks game and every 2015-2024 Hawks Wolves game is that we have no answer for KAT

  3. That’s why we play 7 game series. Brunson played perfect in the first half and Dyson and Naw had their worst games of the season. This won’t happen again. We win game 2

  4. First real playoff experience for like 5 of the dudes who played today, and didn’t play too awful. If Knicks shoot 48% from 3 and are +10 from the line going forward then we will lose

We gotta score better inside but our interior defense was better than expected

    #wemove

  5. Few more things go our way and we could have won. Game one in MSG, team didn’t really play well and it was still competitive.

Come back angry for game 2

  6. Whenever JJ and NAW get complacent, Quinn needs to bring out Zacc to raise their cortisol. Whether they’re terrified trying to clean up his mess or on cloud 9 when he makes his 3’s, that’ll get them going.

  7. We will be fine. The guys know what they have to do. Quin will coach them up and they will respond.

I fully expect a pissed off NAW in Game 2

  8. Yes, the refs sucked, but this team needs a true #1 scoring option. I’m not complaining, already knew that going in, we just need to remind ourselves that we are technically in the middle of a soft rebuild. Just enjoy being here

  9. Back to the lab. Not bad as game 1. Series doesn’t start till the home team loses a game.

  10. CJ saved us in the 1st half and killed us in the 2nd half. Need JJ and NAW to bounce back with fire in game 2.

  11. Fought but waited a little too late. Regroup. We shouldn’t be scared of that team. Force Bruson to play defense and move the balle offensively. I expect NAWto go nuclear for the next 2 games. CJ did turn into chucker towards the end.

The definitive game plan should be run and movement. With the ball sticking, it makes it easier for them to adjust to us.

  12. A lack of a true big man is going to haunt them in the playoffs.

But it was hard for them to get going when the refs kept fucking them at every opportunity.

If the whole series is reffed like this, its a 5 game series to the Knicks.

  13. I feel like outside of Robinson owning us like usual they were firing on all cylinders while we got pretty much one half from CJ and one from Jalen that were good. Not saying it was a fluke even with the bad officiating, they deserved the win for sure, but the score margin should be way wider for how badly we played, and the fact that it isn’t bodes really well for next game

  14. Ik the JJ stans (not fans) are going to make excuses for him but this whole year jalen refuses to get downhill and play through contact. The few times he got the switch he wanted, he opted for jumpers or floaters. WHY? YOU HAVE PLAYERS HALF YOUR SIZE ON YOU. Since his shoulder injury he avoids any contact and go for tough leaning shots or fadeaways over players half his size and weight. When last year, he always tried to bully no matter who’s in front of him. People are going to call him a #2 and he’ll keep getting that until he demands the ball and stop shying away all the damn time.

  15. Cj showing some veteran ship, JJ clearly not comfortable in the spotlight(settling for jumpers when he has Brunson guarding him). Double 00 stepping up offensively.

  16. Ehh, you win some you lose some

We’re not exactly teeming with postseason experience here

  17. First playoff game for some of these guys and it showed. This is the first playoff game as leaders for guys like Jalen, Dyson, NAW…and you could def see some of the struggles.

I’ve said it a million times but it really sucks not having Jock to help deal with the Knicks size.

We’ll see how they respond in Game 2.

  18. NAW looked pissed and self reflective at the end when he hit that 3. He knows what’s up. He’ll be prepared for next game. Hopefully team can learn from this game. Was nice of KAT at the end to acknowledge hawks are a great team. That’s the only nice thing I can say about him lol.

  19. – I usually never complain about the refs but man they seemed to definitely be proKnicks this game – I thought we played well and if we had not gone cold in the 4th, would have had a good chance – I don’t want to hear anyone complain that Zac isn’t being played in the playoffs – I thought the hacking strategy was the right call at that time – Jalen is not a number 1 until he can get his 1-on-1 game more diverse – We have to figure out that Brandon/KAT 2-man game – Tony Bradley should have been in at least some so give our guys a breather and extra fouls

  20. I do feel like there were a lot of calls that weren’t going in our favor on that one…but Knicks defense was smothering. We had a run at the end on some 3s, but tbh, We need to do a better job of getting into our sets and getting good looks throughout the game. I wish Jalen would use his strength a bit more to backdown defenders – he’s not quick enough to really beat guys off the dribble. CJ was magical for the first half. I’m still of the opinion that NAW needs to step up – he might be the closest thing we have to an ‘undefendable’ player with his finishing package and 3pt shooting. Our starting 5 has *Barely* any playoff experience and we hung in there with a tough team. I’m not mad.

  21. Very pleased with our game today and a lot to learn.

    – felt like Jalen understood the assignment in the second half, playing his game. We need that frm the start now.

    – OO and Gueye did a great job on defense against their bigs.

    – Saw NAW was pissed at the end. We need him to play a bigger role next game. CJ shouldn’t be the sole offensive iso creator as he had to be today

    – Dys’ shot needs to fall on offense. Otherwise it’s rough out there

    – Kuminga and Gabe played good enforcer roles on both ends

    – CJ was hot early on but kept on shooting difficult shots even when it probably would’ve been better to differ late

    – The refs completely called the game in the Knicks favor in the second and third when it mattered most

    – KAT is whining and flailing all game. Hate his play style

    – It’s gon be hard to stop them on defense when illegal screens are rarely called. They do it on every single possession to free up their guards

  22. Gonna be tough to take games in MSG but we are capable of it for sure. Game one on the road started rough but looked like we settled in too late for real. Hopefully that carry’s over into game 2 since they have a feel for the real atmosphere experience.

  23. New York was daring them to shoot tonight & JJ fell for it. He passed up a few 3pt looks that ended in empty possessions.

  24. Lets not overreact they shot the ball better and killed us on the fast break we can take game 2 and then 2 at home we win in 6

  25. Lmao I have no idea what that second half was. Credit to NY’s defense but we straight up just forgot how to play basketball for a good stretch there.

There will be a lot to say about the foul discrepancy (we defo should have got more calls) but we couldn’t even take advantage of the hack-a-Robinson strat. It also felt like when we went to that we lost all of our offensive momentum and it slowly spiraled out of control.

Shooting was rough, but it the first playoff game for a lot of guys in new roles so im not that worried tbh

It’s kinda ridculous to be beaten at the fastbreak game by the 25th ranked pace team, need to run more and push our advantages.

Too many Turnovers and rushed shots, played like headless chickens at some points when they DID NOT NEED TOO

JJ has the capacity to take over playoff games but like in the reg season it will take time, and whether we get anything out of this series kinda depends on how long that takes him.

Overall not too mad, after all I want this series to see what we need to work on. Got at least 3 more to figure out how we need to operate in the postseason.

    GO HOX

  26. It hurts watching Luke Kennard ball out rn after our bench contributed almost nothing offensively tn.

  27. People complaining about CJ are crazy to me. NAW was having a bad game, Dyson can’t shoot, nobody else can create their own shot & Jalen is rarely aggressive.. who else was supposed to take the shots?

  28. The big difference they capitalized on our mistakes in ways we couldn’t do with theirs. That’s where experience (or lack of) really shows

  29. Kuminga has to be the 6th man and main scorer off the bench and to do that he actually needs plays ran for him. All they got him doing is standing in the corner like a stripper, clarkson is litteraly a noodle just attack

  30. My takeaways

    * The Risacher pick is devastating. He’s not good enough to be nervous in these games. I can give grace to the actual good players who have never been here like Dyson and JJ.
    * This game was death by a thousand cuts. Offensive putbacks and cherrypicks in transition. Lots of swing plays that didn’t cut our way.
    * The big concern coming in was Mitchell Robinson and we did a fine job of locking in and minimizing him as much as we could. We definitely struggle shooting with him around, but overall he was not a gamebreaker per se.
    * NAW’s played very bad on offense. As a playoff veteran at this point, you have to be able to lean on him.
    * JJ was mid but I am not expecting a lot out of him this series tbh. His handle isn’t strong enough to survive the hounding. The Knicks are big, it’s hard to finish over them. He’s going to live by his jumper. If we win this series it will be because of a team (really all 5 starters) effort, not because of JJ going 2018 Lebron. But most importantly this is a necessary experience for him and his development as a player.
    * Shout out to Mo Gueye.
    * Bench depth needs to be a huge priority.
    * Generally I was impressed with how we weathered the storms throughout the game.

  31. We had the knicks the bonus at 4 mins into the quarter like how we ain’t take advantage of that lmao
