With the proposed changes to the draft lottery, I’m not sure if hording draft picks will be the way forward, especially since we already are sitting on a ton.
and MPJ is a good mentor and seems to not be a diva, honestly i’d only get rid of him if we got really good deal + a veteran with high IQ presence like Chris Paul or something to guide our young core in his stead.
This doesn’t link to anything, but I’m assuming the OP in r/NBATalk is saying the Clippers should trade their remaining FRPs to Brooklyn for Michael Porter, Jr.
**First of all…**
The closest tradeable FRP the Clippers own is in 2030.
So, the graphic says the LAC 2030 unprotected FRP, the LAC 2031 unprotected FRP swap, and the LAC 2032 unprotected FRP would be in this deal.
**Second of all…**
I would fly to LA and personally smack their front office members in the face for making this deal, because Michael Porter, Jr. has nowhere near this level of trade value.
Eternal debt 😹
I’m not certain what first round picks the Clippers will have in the future. – I would consider trading MPjr for Paul George and the Clippers unprotected 2028 pick and the 2029 Clippers top 3 protected pick swap.
The Sixers would cut their salary cap/luxury tax bill by over $10 million but also get out of the final year of PG’s $55 million contract.
With the federal whistleblower under penalty of perjury giving evidence that Aspiration and Clippers circumvented salary cap rules in order to pay Kawhi more money it will be very interesting to see what punishment the Clippers get.
At the very minimum the Clippers egregious behaviour is far worse than what the TWolves did with Joe Smith and yet the Wolves got docked multiple first round picks.
Yet Balmer is richer than all other 29 NBA owners combined.
So what is Adam Silver gonna do? A really smart commissioner would fine Balmer hundreds of millions of dollars and force him to sell the Clippers. Then suspend Balmer for a couple of years before allowing him back and Balmer acquiring the Seattle SuperSonics for the largest expansion fee ever. Bit clearly that is not gonna happen.
