URGENCY: Chargers Must PRIORITIZE Guard and EDGE Rusher in the First Three Rounds of the Draft

Los Angeles Chargers face a critical offseason: failing to upgrade at guard and edge rusher in the early rounds could derail their 2026 ambitions. Should the front office prioritize immediate starters over long-term projects, or is depth at other positions just as urgent to secure Justin Herbert’s future?

Daniel Wade and David Droegemeier break down the Chargers’ top five draft needs—spotlighting the urgent holes at guard and edge, where missing out in the first three rounds could prove costly. Hear analysis on the current depth (including Cole Strange, Trevor Penning, and Khalil Mack), evaluate the outlook at wide receiver and cornerback, and debate linebacker’s uncertain future. The conversation highlights why careful draft strategy matters with Donte Jackson, Tuli Tuipulotu, and Tyler Biadasz all playing pivotal roles. Which positions will the Chargers target first, and who can step in to make an instant impact on the roster?

  1. Trade up in first to get Vega.
Trade up in second for best available edge.
    Use third round for corner.
Fourth and six used for trading up.
    🤔 outside the 📦 😁⚡️

  2. Totally agree about drafting a backup center. If they can nab an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder (far from a given) I’d use thar last 3rd round pick on a center.

  3. Joe's going to have a Really hard time trying to convince ANY team to trade up with us. This draft doesn't have that much top end players teams are looking for. So he's most likely going to be stuck at 22.

  4. Convinced Vega wont be there
Steelers will grab him at 21 if he is

    Forget all about Vega

Im fine drafting Bisontis at 22
Hes not gonna be on the board for us in the second round

Whos gonna trade up to 22? Noone
Its not an alluring pick at 22

Maybe we can get a late pick and move down, but it wont be worth it

  5. Guard is more important in my opinion than edge because I think Mac even at his age is still a very good player & I can see him coming back another year unless he gets some kind of freak injury like last year where he decides to retire he didn't look ready to retire after coming back from it last year.

  6. If we're being honest they basically only have 1 starting guard & That's strange. No body else on this team is a starting guard.

  7. I disagree with you Daniel on Mac I think he can still play at a high level even after this year. Maybe it's not with the Chargers but I think if he has another good year without a freak injury any team will what him next year.

  8. I don't care about the lakers. I'm done with the QJ talk it's just stupid at this point they don't have to pick up his fifth year option but it's stupid not too. I'm not super into the option thing but with a little research that's the best way to go & all good teams do it unless it's a injury thing that they just miss to many games. QJ is more important to this team right now than ladd. If you look at the structure of this team.

  9. What's funny most of you guys that do this pod stuff I agree with Im waiting for the cross over with the GAC guys but they probably address LB in udf.

  10. Scott said he wanted to play defense & get better at that but let's be honest they asks him to just save our team because we have no one left & he did it . What happened to are blocking TEs they no where around. He actually did a pretty good job even though that's not what he should be playing but he did it for the team and I personally give him big props for that. I haven't seen anything that can't be coached up from him & he stays healthy.

  11. Billy Schrauth is actually a very, very good option. He is from Notre Dame. The only knock on him was he had an injury last year or he’d be a top pick. He played with Alt.
