The Bisons quarterback could be an option for the Cardinals to draft on Day 3 if they want a bit of a development project, according to NFL analyst Dane Brugler.

“Cole Payton for North Dakota State is another one of those developmental guys that has a long way to go,” Brugler told Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta on April 9. “But he’s a really good athlete and what he put on film this year at the FCS level definitely has your attention.

“But, we’re talking early Day 3, fourth-round types that, chances are, they’re not gonna turn into NFL starters. But if you want to throw a dart, those guys would make sense.”

  1. I would way rather have him than simpson. We dont need to move up, we can get him later in the draft lkke day 3, and hes a big frame qb with good size and speed.

  2. I don’t know with how many of the late round QBs they met with it’s hard to tell if this is because I’m not a fan of Simpson or actual smoke, but I am starting to feel like Simpson isn’t a trade up target. They would take him if he fell to the second I think, but they have done so much work on these late round QBs for Simpson to be a sure thing.
